The famagusta District:
The long white sandy beaches around the family resort of Protaras, including the famous Fig Tree Bay and the picturesque Conos Bay set in the stunning Cape Grecco National Park, are just a short ten minute drive or bus ride away, whist the larger livelier town of Aya Napa is only 15 minutes away.
In addition to relaxing by the large private pool or on the beach you can enjoy a whole range of activities including the exhilarating slides at the famous Ayia Napa waterpark one of the largest in Europe, catamaran cruises around the coast, scuba diving (including try-dives for beginners), snorkelling in the crystal clear waters and walking or cycling along the beautiful coastal pathways.
Paralimni the administrative capital of the area is just 2 kms inland, offers a more traditional view of Cyprus with beautiful historic squares and churches, lovely bakeries, cafes, restaurants and smart shops.
Sailing is offered by the Famagusta District Sailing Club at nearby Ayia Triada next door to Kapparis, Lasers, Catamarans and windsurfing are on offer.
Dhekella Sailing Club offers RYA sailing.
Horse riding is available at nearby Moonshine Ranch and there is also tuition and hacking out at Dhekella Saddle Club 30kms away on the road to larnaca.
The camel Park at Mazotos on the other side of Larnaca is a very popular day out for the kids.
Larnaca is a traditional Cypriot town about 45 minutes drive, it has a picturesque marina and is good for strolling along the seafront promenade, which has lots of restaurants where you can get great seafood.
The capital Nicosia is about a 70 minute drive, it has many historic sites of interest, yet the atmosphere is very cosmopolitan it offers stylish cafes and chic boutiques.
The Troudous Mountains are 90 minutes away on the western side of the island, here you will find traditional villages where time stands still, breathtaking scenery, great walking trails, wineries and great skiing in the winter.
