Lovely peaceful location

Hemel's finest Hemel Hempstead
Review Submitted: July 14, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We stayed for a week in July, the cottage was in a beautiful location and right next to Skipton Woods in the shadows of the castle. Easy access to the woods, canal path with a gentle walk into Skipton and plenty of things to see and do.

Facilities very good, clean and comfortable. First class decorations and plenty of natural daylight. The owners are very knowledgable about the area and the history of the buildings, nothing too much trouble. Excellent selection of local information available in the cottage on arrival to give 'food for thought' regarding places to visit.

Great choice of restaurants and pubs to enjoy in Skipton with a wide selection of foods available for those who do not want to self cater. Try the Narrow Boat pub as the selection of real ales superb and the food fantastic. Dined there on two occasions and was very impressed. Excellent value for money, do try the Belly Pork....delicious. If you want to order a take away to be delivered to the cottage, make sure you have the post code to hand........as we found out!!!!

This is a great base for exploring the Dales and the beautiful scenery all around. Day trips to Grassington, Ripon, Harrogate, Malham Cove and many other beautiful destinations are easily accessible by public transport or car.

Good value for money and a very pleasant location. Extremely recommendable.

Review Submitted: August 18, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
The property was immaculate despite dishwasher not working , but it could not have been more ideally situated. The property was clean and well-maintained - a little open planned! The owners were very friendly and very accommodating. Responded to requests for an iron and a teapot immediately. I would wholeheartedly recommend this property to anyone who wishes to be located in exceptionally bucolic surroundings. There was so much to do in and about Skipton ranging from walks to museums - Skipton castle of course. There is a plethora of restaurants in Skipton and the Craven Heifer is to be recommended even for vegetarians like me. There was nothing to dislike about this property. First class!!

The family break

Famiy break Colchester
Review Submitted: August 8, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This was a family holiday for my partner, mother, father, myself and of course the dog. The cottage is in a great location, clean and spacious. Although the garden is not attached to the cottage the woods are so close that this was not a problem with the dog. The walk along the castle path to the canal town was great as it is way from the road. Skipton itself is a charming market town with lots to see and do, loads of places to eat out and Tescos and Morrisons in the town for supplies. Within easy reach of the cottage there are lots of places to walk, if you do not want to drive. The owners were really helpful without being intrusive. Great holiday.

Idyllic Cottage on Edge of Market Town.

Tuscan Expat Stia, Arezzo, Italy
Review Submitted: May 30, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
Despite being situated less than 500 metres from the bustling main street of the busy, historic market town of Skipton, this spacious, comfortable cottage enjoys a tranquil, idyllic setting in the woods behind the imposing castle. Every home comfort is provided for and the friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable owners, who live in the house opposite, were only too pleased to supply local information and advice when needed. The walks from the cottage into Skipton Woods were very enjoyable and we spotted kingfishers, herons and roedeer. At night, the only noises to disturb the tranquillity, were the trickling of the adjacent river and the occasional hooting of owls in the woods. We found some excellent restaurants, cafes and pubs within 10 minutes walk from the cottage and could be in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales within a similar length of time driving or travelling by bus. Highly recommended!
