Run on solar & wind power & ideal for a tranquil, relaxing 'away from it all' break. Available for self catering rental throughout the year, the traditionally built casita, finished to a high standard and situated away from the owner’s main house, is on a higher level to really benefit from the beautiful panoramic views. Set on its own small plateau and surrounded by almond trees, the casita is an open plan, studio style accommodation which has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The tranquil setting makes it an ideal place to enjoy a relaxing holiday, whilst its location makes it the perfect base for exploring the many places of interest and activities that Andalucia has to offer. Situated around 50 minutes inland from Malaga airport, Casita Bolero stands above the village of El Chorro and the ancient Moorish ruins of Bobastro on the very edge of the Ardales Natural Park. The casita has a very good access track which is part of the National GR7 trekking route across Spain.

Ardales Lakes and Natural Park is an area of outstanding beauty, a forest of native pine trees providing dappled shade & a habitat throughout the year for a wide variety of plants, animals and birds. The ancient Moorish ruins of Bobasto, seen from the casita are within walking distance. During the summer, the 'radox' lakes are ideal for swimming & fishing. 5 man Pedalos, canoes & kayaks can be hired lakeside. El Chorro gorge is a narrow limestone gorge, some sections less than 10 metres wide & over 400metres in height. On the rock face 100 metres above the river is the Camino del Rey, (King’s Walkway), an amazing feet of engineering built in 1921. The village of El Chorro is a centre for rock climbing, being one of the most popular winter climbing destinations in Europe. The cities of Seville (2 hours), Cordoba (2½ hrs) & Granada (1½ hrs) are all easy to reach. Close by are the beautiful towns of Ronda & Antequera (less than 1 hr) & the amazing Parque Natural del Torcal.

Notes: The wood burning stove for the cooler months heats the whole of the building really well, and fuel is provided at €5 per day. A welcome pack of basic needs + one or two extras greets you on arrival. The covered terraced area is south facing and makes an ideal dining, BBQ or relaxing space. El fresco dining table & chairs together with BBQ equipment and coals are provided. There is ample car parking space on the private track to the casita. Full use of Casa Bolero’s 8mx4m swimming pool is open to residents of the casita during the long hot season and is just a short walk from the casita. The pool area is terraced with sun beds and an outdoor shower. Please bring your own swim towels.

Cycling: If you’re in to cycling we have mountain and road bikes, helmets and a tandem available for hire, with a series of routes close by and accessible from the casita. We also offer the services of a mountain bike guide should you require it and uplifts if you find the hills too much! Bike hire and guiding services are payable locally.

Shopping & trains: Supplies can be bought locally in the village of El Chorro, where there is a small supermarket, or in Ardales for more choice – both about 10-15 minutes away by car. These small shops close for siesta at around 1.30pm and open again in the evening at 5.00pm until 8.00pm. If you need a ‘big shop’ then larger supermarkets that are open all day can be found in Alora or Campillos, both 30 minutes away. Malaga town centre with it's wealth of shopping centres and places of cultural interest, including the Picasso museum, alcazaba, castle and impressive bull-ring is very easily reached by train from Alora. There is an excellent train link along the coast from Malaga. The new high speed AVE train link will get you from Malaga to Madrid in 2.5 hours - less if you take the train from Santa Ana near Antequera. There's so much to see!

Thermal Spa: The exclusive thermal spa at Carratraca is now open - approximately 20 mins drive away. This luxurious spa offers soothing thermal baths at 5 different temperatures, a hamman, 21 treatment rooms & a jacuzzi. Using an holistic approach, they also offer chromo therapy, aromatherapy & music therapy. Perfect for relaxing solitude!

A nice place to stay!

The casita is a very nice place to stay for a relaxing and/or sportive holiday. The simple but all supplient casita offers everything you need, and the place is even better than you see at the pictures. Also the price/quality balance is perfect.
John and Jocelyn, the owners, are very nice people, and they give you enough privacy but also a nice chat when you're in for it. The environment gives enough possibilties for entertainment, sports or city trips, although the stay at the casita may be just all you need to relax and enjoy your holiday. And don't let me forget Jack, the nicest dog ever, who made our stay even more fun!

Casita Bolero - Fantastic Holiday 5/5

The Cassita, Casa bolero was a pleasure to stay in, it was immaculate, very comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed spectacular views surrounding the Cassita and whilst lying by the pool. The area is ideal for climbers and cyclists, the owner John can recommend some excellent cycling routes. The local area is quiet and un-commercialised with a few very good restaurants and bars, although if you fancy a trip into the busier town (e.g. Malaga or Rhonda) it's not too far. John and Joce were very friendly and made us feel very welcome throughout the whole week. We will definitely be returning for a second visit next year.
