Brac is a beautiful unspoilt island very close to the mainland and the fascinating city of Split. The island’s coastline is studded with villages built from the local white stone (a wing of the White House in Washington is built from the same stone). Inland, there are some charming old villages nestling between olive groves and vineyards. Sandy and pebbly beaches are everywhere and the spectacular beach in the little town of Bol is deemed to be one of the most beautiful in the world. Split itself is full of antiquities, markets, galleries, restaurants, clubs and is famous for the palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian. It is well worth a visit. There are plenty of restaurants on the island serving superb local fresh fish and locally produced meat and wine . The climate is mild all year round, with over 300 days of sunshine. The sea is warm, clear and unpolluted, and everyone swims in it. This is an ideal holiday destinations for families, teenagers and adults.
