Agriturismo Castagnatello, only 30 minutes away from the summit of the Amiata Mountain, makes the perfect setting for winter holidays as well. The combination of what the nearby snowy Amiata offers together with the possibility of a brake from skiing to explore some of the best preserved midieval towns in europe and enjoy their superb food and fine wines is simply unique. Amiata mountain has 12 skilifts to get to the summit, 12 downhill trails (total lenght of about 13 Km), and 4 crosscoutry trails (total lenght of 12 Km), all of them offering stunning sceneries.

Tasting House - Sample local gastronomy and Wines:
Withing the Agriturismo Castagnatello estate there is a delightful Tasting House to give our custmers the possibility to sample and enjoy delicious local gastronomy and some of the finest Tuscan wines.
Local products include local cheeses, cured meats, delicious chestnut honey and our own delicate cold press olive oil, obtained from the Olive tree variety 'Olivastra Seggianese', endemic of the Seggiano area.
Tuscany and the Val d'Orcia are renowned for their fine wines. Some of the best wines produced in our area include: Brunello di Montalcino, Nobile di Montepulciano and Montecucco.
Visits to wine producer estates and cellars to get to know better the local wine tradition and to do some first class tasting can be arranged upon request. Please enquire.
Local culinary events:
These are some of the culinary events in our area, not to miss if you are interested in getting a closer look at the local Tuscan traditions, and in doing some serious eating!:
- 10th - 13th August, in Seggiano - Sagra della Scottigia - a festival celebrating the traditional exquisite chicken soup of the area.
- 13th - 16th August, in Seggiano - Sagra del Picio - another festival celebrating the Seggiano homemade picio pasta.
- End of August and end of December, in Seggiano - Olearte - a tasting event in the middle of the village, dedicated to the precious Olivastra Seggianese olive oil, where is possible to taste the quality of the different producers.
- May, in Castel del Piano - Festival of the homemade Lasagna - festival celebrating the local handmade lasagna.
- 4th-7th September, in Pienza - fiera del cacio - festival in this romantic town celebrating its traditional product: their pecorino cheese.

The Amiata is 1700 metres high, and the ski season is usually from December to March; it has 12 skilifts to get to the summit, 12 downhill trails (total lenght of about 13 Km), and 4 crosscoutry trails (total lenght of 12 Km), all of them offering stunning sceneries. On the Amiata mountain ski sites there is the possibility doing ski lessons as well.
