Competa holiday villa: Competa

The villa is larger than it appears in the pictures and has a homely feel to it. It is finished to a high standard with very good facilities. All rooms and bathrooms are tidy and comfortable. The air conditioning and ceiling fans in all rooms ensures that you are comfortable day and night. The outside space is equally comfortable with the fantastic pool and patio area, which are very well maintained. The very comfortable covered shaded terrace area, with fridge and ceiling fans allows you to sit talk and play family games in comfort well into the early hours whilst enjoying the fantastic views. This combined with the very usable outside kitchen area and good sized built in barbeque led to a fantastic holiday. The villa is family and child friendly being large enough to let one another have space when required.
Whilst the town of Competa is not a “hot spot” of entertainment, a plus point in my opinion, it does have a good variety of friendly bars and restaurants and we would highly recommend “El Pilon” for both quality and price.
When we booked we had intended to do a bit of exploring in the area but because the villa was so comfortable and well equipped we spent the two weeks happily ensconced in the villa and pool only poping out to top up supplies.

The description of this villa does not do it justice - it was fantastic! Welcome pack was superb (we arrived on a Sunday and the main and local supermarkets were closed) and most welcome. The property is extremely well maintained and the welcoming 'committee' of Phil and Rosemary (plus the adorable Jet!) was professional yet friendly. Competa is ideal for a quiet time in the sunshine, with excellent restaurants and good local bars (showing Premier League football if that's what you are into). The views are breathtaking and, as luck would have it, the weather for May was just superb with 75 to 85 degree wall to wall sunshine, the garden and terrace being in the sun all day from early morning to very late evening. The outside seating area was simply perfect, complete with comfortable seating, dining table and overhead fans and lighting, providing a perfect evening relaxing area - in fact we hardly ever ventured indoors except for showering and sleeping - all meals being taken outside over a few bottles of the local red! Not really an ideal location for a family with kids who want to sample exciting night life, but perfect for the more mature guests looking for peace and tranquility. The heated swimming pool is absolutely perfect and the sunbathing facilities second to none. Trips to nearby Nerja (approx 20 mins drive) were frequent and rewarding; not full of the usual British 'bustle' and excellent dining and tapas facilities. A hire care is essential, and the driving experience is not something to be phased about, we didn't experience one single incident of road rage during the two weeks we were there - a refreshing change from the stress of UK driving!
