Getting there and away :
Geneva is the closest airport and it is probably easiest to hire a car there and drive to Argentiere .This takes about 1.5 hours .It is possible to drive from any ferry port and from the northern ones eg Calais and Le Havre it is motorway most of the way and takes about 7 hours depending on stops .The chalet is not far off the main road on the Chamonix side of Argentiere .There are buses running frequently up and down the valley and Argentiere station is about a 15 minute walk .Trains from there go to Martigny , Switzerland stopping in many small villages en route .
Power supply :
The chalet is powered with electricity only and there is the main fuse box on the wall in the basement .The water is heated at night but the radiators can be varied to requirement. There is at least one in every room .The underfloor heating is on a timer .Extra warmth is available from the woodburning stove and logs can be purchased from the local supermarket or garage .If it is used the ash needs to be emptied .
Parking :
The entrance to the parking is underground there is an electric door opened by a beep which you will receive with the keys .There is then a lockable garage under the house itself with direct access up the basement stairs to the main part of the house .Additional parking is available outside the house and it is only for residents so there should always be space . It is then possible to enter the house either through the underground garage or overground to the front door (not alway possible in the heavy snow )
Ski:
The famous Grands Montets skiing area is the closest to the chalet but La Flegere which is now linked to Le Brevent the main Chamonix town skiing area is about 10 minutes away .Le Tour further up the valley affords a pleasant days skiing and is easier than the other two areas. There is plenty of off piste opportunities and it is easy to hire a guide .The Vallee Blanche starts in Chamonix and a guide is recommended for this .The ski pass includes Courmayer in Italy about 40 minutes drive through the Mont Blanc tunnel .A nice apres ski pizza over there is a real treat as well as the extensive skiing .Les Houches is further down the valley just after Chamonix and is lower but if the snow is plentiful then skiing through the trees in Les Houches is wonderful .There is the Panda club for children at Grands Montets as well .There is something for everyone regardless of expertise and of course there is ski du fond .The pisted trail for this is directly outside the chalet .
Golf:
There is a golf course about 10 minutes drive away in the direction of Chamonix .It runs along the valley floor and is very picturesque .It is adjacent to a hotel and restaurant as well .
