Our house provides the perfect self catering accommodation, ideal for couples looking for a romantic getaway to families who want an active holiday. We purchased the house in 2006 as a 'rustico' building because of its stunning location/views and renovated it to a high standard. It is situated on a hillside around 1km from the lake by road and only a short walk via the numerous paths that wind down the hillside. Their is a double bedroom, single bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor with a fully fitted kitchen and lounge on the floor above. In addition to this, above the lounge, is a third bedroom on a mezzanine floor with two single beds. The lounge has doors that open onto a balcony and there is access to the terraced garden from the kitchen. The house is equipped to a high standard and has all mod cons such as flat screen TV, DVD, PS2, CD etc. Also available at the house are three bikes (with a child seat), kayak, pushchair, travel cot and a large collection of books/DVD's.

Pianello Del Lario is centrally located on the west coast of Lake Como around 15 kms north of Menaggio. It is a quiet area made up of several traditional Italian villages that sit on the hillside adjacent to the lake. There is a pebble beach, served by two bars / restaurants, and an attractive lakeside footpath. The lake itself offers sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, swimming and motorboat sports. There are a number of shops, a small supermarket, several bars / restaurants, a bank and post office. There is easy access to the lake ferries and local bus service. Within a short drive / ferry ride are the popular attractions of Menaggio, Varenna, Bellagio and Villa Carlotta. Further afield, within an easy drive, are Milan, Lake Lugano and St Moritz. On your doorstep are the local hills / mountains which provide excellent opportunities for walking and mountain biking. In the winter skiing is available at popular resorts such as Madesimo (60km) and St Moritz (85Km).

  • A final cleaning charge of £70.00 will be added to all bookings. For bookings of two weeks a charge of £90.00 will be added. An extra charge of £50.00 will be added to all bookings during Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb and March to cover central heating costs. A deposit of 30% will be required to secure a booking and full payment will be required 6 weeks before departure. Payment is accepted via cash, cheque or bank transfer.

  • The Master Bedroom commands beautiful views of the Lake from the Bedroom window. The furniture in this room comprises of one double wardrobe, a chest of drawers, a bedside table, half moon table and long mirror all in a typical Laura Ashley painted furniture style. High quality solid wood floors The single bedroom downstairs also has a window facing the Lake so a stunning view can be enjoyed. There is a single brass bedstead with bedside table, lamp and a double bedroom cabinet all in limed wood plus a full length pedestal mirror. High quality solid wood floors. The mezzanine floor above the lounge has two single beds, two chests of draws and bedside lights. This space is quite large, around 15 sq mts in size, has a roof window. It is ideal for adults and children alike. The two seater sofa bed settee in the lounge is available for use if required.

Notes: This is our holiday home and as such it is equipped with items that might not ordinarily be found at a holiday rental property, ie bikes, books, DVD's, kayak, pushchair, childs bike seat, snow chains, etc. You are more than welcome to use these items but we would ask that you take care of them and replace anything if any damage occurs. The house is accessed via a flight of steps into the first floor kitchen (approx 20 steps). The house was planned in this way so every advantage could be taken of the spectacular views.This should be noted if mobility is an issue. Although the house is on a hillside this should not cause a problem as a car is is considered necessary. Pianello is at an advantage to other lakeside villages because the main lakeside road bypasses the town through a tunnel, thus keeping traffic to a minimum. Access to the main road is very easy. Larger shopping facilities can be found as you travel north and south along the lake, particularly at Colico.

Ski: As a family we are keen skiers and spend a lot of time in the local mountains. Large snow sure resorts such as Madesimo, St Moritz and Aprica are within easy reach. In addition to this smaller more traditional Italian resorts are accessible. These tend to have a smaller area but are always cheaper and quieter mid-week. We can usually ski from early December through to the end of April.

Golf: Golf is available at Menaggio Golf Club. Enquiries would have to be made with the club house themselves for Tee times and fee's.

Beautiful property in quiet location

Stayed first week October 09

The house has been done up to an excellent standard and the owners are very helpful in making your stay rewarding. It is on a hill high above a small village with beautiful views out over Lake Como. The closest town of a decent size is located around 5 miles away and we ended up spending a good portion of time there taking the ferries out to other parts of the lake and food shopping. Lugano is about an hours drive away depending on traffic and well worth a visit. If you are the type of person that likes going out in the evenings then this place is probably not for you as you do need to drive to places. However, if your ideal is to be in a place where you can spend quiet evenings in with those that came with you then this is your perfect. We found the accommodation to be of high specification and very friendly owners who seem happy to have you stay in a place they have put love and effort in creating.
Note of warning: the Italian Lakes have very narrow roads and take some getting use to driving on. After a few days I was fine but the first couple of days I found very difficult.

Lovely house with excellent facilities

As it says on the description, this house offers excellent accomodation with fantastic views of the lake and surrounding mountains. It is well placed to tour the lake and Swiss border. The house is furnished to a high standard with attractive furniture and offers the usual consumer goods (DVD,TV, CD player). The owner has provided a number of leaflets on surrounding tourist attractions providing plenty of ideas of what to do during your stay. For those wanting to stay in, there are a number of films, CD's,jigsaws etc to entertain the family. There was ample room for 4 adults and 2 young children.
I would highly recommend this property for people looking for a holiday in the region.

Die Besitzer haben bei der Renovierung sehr geschmackvoll den Rustico-Stil beibehalten. Das Haus ist sehr schön und gemütlich eingerichtet und man kann von allen Zimmern aus die herrliche Aussicht genießen.
Das Haus ist ruhig gelegen, aber dennoch zentral um kleinere Ausflüge zu machen. Ein kleiner Garten zum Sonnen und Fussballspielen ist auch vorhanden.
Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und können es nur weiterempfehlen. Für uns war es perfekt!
