The village of Ogle is built amongst the remains of a medieval village. ‘The Gables’ is a lovely cottage-style, detached bungalow on a private plot with ample parking, in the centre of this very quiet, historic rural hamlet - which lies approx. 5 miles NW of Ponteland. There are a number of good pubs/restaurants in the area: The Highlander, The Beresford Arms at Whalton and the Waggon Inn. At nearby Belsay there is a village Store. Bolam Country Park is but a short drive away as are Belsay Hall and Wallington Hall. The surrounding quiet lanes and public footpaths provide for an idyllic way to enjoy the countryside – walking or cycling. Despite all of this, due to its fabulous central location in Northumbria, within 10 mins you can be at the Airport (Ogle is not on any flight paths), in 20 mins you can be at Newcastle train station or the famous Metro Centre shopping experience. Within 30 mins in all directions there are great things to see and do in and around Northumbria.

  • IMPORTANT NOTE:

    The weekly rates change during the year - please consult the rate calendar

    There is a minimum charge of 1 week. If you stay less than a week you will be charged for 7 days from the day you arrive - each at the daily rate applicable.

    Where not staying for whole weeks (e.g. 10 days) a surcharge is applied to cover for the potential loss of bookings (as most people book Saturday to Saturday)

    To deal with this the surcharge payable is based upon the number of potential days of lost booking

    The formula is:

    (7-number of extra days) x 50% of daily rate for that week

    EXAMPLE:

    Weekly rate during stay = £700. Booking required for 10 days. Cost = £700 (for first week) plus £300 for 3 additional days - plus surcharge of:

    (7-3) = 4 times 50% of £100 per day = £200

    Total cost of 10-day booking AT START OF JULY = £700 + £300 + £200 = £1200

  • A £100.00 returnable security deposit is required for the booking. A 20 % deposit is required on booking, with the remaining balance due 12 weeks prior to arrival at the property. All late bookings require full payment. Prices include linen and towels. The property is cleaned just before your arrival. If your stay is for 2 weeks or more, the property will be cleaned and the linen & towels changed every 7 days. We can also provide our guests with a welcome pack, which will be placed into the property on arrival day. This costs £10 and consists of: box of 40 x teabags, 100g jar of coffee, 2 litres semi-skim milk, pot of sugar, bottle of washing up liquid, 3 x bars of soap, 7 x dishwasher tablets and 4 x toilet rolls.

    Normal check-in time is after 14:00hrs and check-out is by 10:00hrs. Depending upon bookings, you may request that this be varied to accommodate your needs.

National Trust properties nearby include Warren House Gill, Horden, Beacon Hill, Hawthorne Dene, Moorhouse Woods, Ormesby Hall and Moulton Hall.

This is a nice bungalow in a very quiet area in Northumberland. Close to the coast and historic towns of Morpeth and Alnwich. Also very convenient for Newcastle city centre and the Metro Centre(approx 40 mins away)
I am a wheelchair user and once inside easy to negotiate - although only one bedroom suitable due to size. Large bathroom was easy to use but has no specific disabled equipment - I managed with a bath board over bath(no shower) but had sit down wash. Will require ramp into house but only one step.
There is a lovely garden and patio area with plenty of living space in the lounge and conservatory. Having 2 bathrooms was a plus. No need to take books or games as plenty are supplied. Nice having cows as your neighbours too. Kitchen well equipped.
