The charming and quiet town of Rio Marina is located on on the eastern part of the Elba island inside a small inlet surrounded by hills characterized by a red earth colour. With direct ferries to the mainland, Rio Mariana is a great location to relax and discover the Elba island. Many excursions are available, including trips along panoramic roads or to the nearby islands. Among the most interesting historical and cultural sites to visit are the Torre dell'Orologio, the Mineral Museum with over 700 examples of minerals found on Elba and the the 16th century Oratory of S. Rocco. Last but not least, more than a dozen beaches are close-by and offer many different types of beach sand. Depending on where you go, the beach sands will look black, white or even red! The apartment is part of building overlooking the port in a quiet area of the town. It is comfortably furnished and include one bed room, a living/dining room with kitchen and a bathroom with a tub and shower.

Surrounded by nature, with its reddish coloured houses and little fishing boats, Rio Marina is a beautiful village with a square which opens onto the port and the marine horizon. Because it is a bit apart from the well-known tourist places, it is one of these villages that offer a relaxing holiday far from the stress of daily life. At the same time, you can also easily reach from there more touristy places in Elba by bus or car. It is also the right starting point to go cruising along the Tuscan coast or towards Corsica or Sardinia. In Rio Marina, you can enjoy sun, sea and delicious sea food in the various restaurants where Elbans still cook for Elbans and tourist menus don’t exist. You will be able to go for nice walks on the seaside promenade and if you get up early, enjoy spectacular sunrises. If you prefer to go to the beach, you will be able to choose a different beach every day boasting wonderful colours, that come from minerals and range from dark red to sparkling silver.

How to get there: Rio Marina is, among the Elba ports, the nearest to the mainland (Piombino). Ferries disembark in Rio Marina both in summer and winter, so it's easy to get here. Hydrofoils from Piombino can even take you there faster or to the nearby village of Cavo. You can reach Piombino by flying either to Pisa or Roma. Pisa is a convenient place to arrive as one can take a train directly from the airport that will take you to where the ferries are leaving Piombino to Elba. You can also rent a car from both Pisa or Roma and drive to Piombino. It is also possible to fly directly to Elba directly from Milano.
