This 1st floor apartment provides comfortable accommodation for 4 people, with one spacious twin bedroom and an open plan living area combining two sofas, one of which converts into a double bed, plus dining table to seat 6 and a kitchen area with a breakfast bar. Sliding patio doors from the living area and the bedroom offer access to the spacious balcony, where there is also table and chairs for 4 plus reclining sun chairs. The kitchen area is well equipped with a fridge freezer, electric oven, hob with 4 electric rings, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and iron. Plenty of crockery and cutlery is provided as are the cooking utensils. The twin bedroom has plenty of storage space provided by a large wall to wall fitted wardrobe and other units. There is one bathroom comprising a walk in shower, basin, toilet and heated towel rail. The bedroom and living area both benefit from reversible air-conditioning. There is an lift and stairs.

The apartment is a few minutes walk from the beaches, town centre and good supermarket. Le Barcares is a lively seaside resort with 9 kilometres of golden sand beaches and many shops, bars and restaurants. In the town there are banks, a post office and tourist office .Visit the 3 weekly markets, in the town square and on beach road, to sample local fresh seafood and other produce, and to soak up the colourful atmosphere. The town is on the southern most point of the Etang de Leucate, an inland lake separated from the sea by a narrow strip of land, providing a natural sanctuary for wildlife, flamingos and watersports enthusiasts. Nearby is Port Barcares with large marina casino and night club. Close to the Spanish border, the town has a strong Catalan heritage.

Nice holidays in Le Barcarès

We (a couple, 37 and 41 years, from Germany) stayed in Le Barcarès for two weeks starting from the end of august until middle of September and we much enjoyed our stay in the apartment:

The apartment is on the first floor in a well-kept and modern residence with about 40 apartments. It has a large living-room which is connected with a large place for eating, a kitchenette, a bedroom, a bathroom and a very large balcony. The furnishing is very tasteful and also comfortable. There are a lot of decorative details like beautiful pictures on the wall, candles, etc., which create a harmonic atmosphere. The apartment is fully equipped, the dishes are complete. There is an air-condition. But we did not need it. The temperature outside was about 28 °C. Inside the apartment it was cooler. There is a cd-player,dvd-player, small television.
To the nice and large beach it is about five minutes walk from the apartment. The region offers a lot of activities, from culture, castles, villages to visit, the environment, beaches, the sea …
In Le Barcarès the restaurants were not our taste. But we discovered very nice restaurants in Leucate-Village, which is about 15 km away. There are several very nice restaurants with fine cuisine, mediterranean atmosphere. We went there several evenings and can recommend going there. We also liked to have diner in the apartment several evenings, by preparing salads, baguettes and French cheese with wine.
Altogether we had two fantastic weeks and would come again
Owner's Response: We would like future guests to note we have now replaced the small temporary TV with a new large (80cm) flat screen TV.

Les Barcares. Apartment Athena

This apartment was just as described. 300m from a safe beach, opposite a good supermarket and with walking access to rest of town.
We felt it was a lovely safe family resort and were happy for our 11 and 14 year old to walk to shop and beach.
apartment was very clean with nice bedding and comfortable beds.Sofa bed is small for 2 adults.
Balcony was lovely for breakfast as partly shaded.
Town has reasonable selection of shops and restaurants and twice weekly markets.
easy access to surrounding area. Lots to do around here, Zoo, Karting, aquapark, Spain fo a day trip, snorkelling on some beaches.
We had a lovely week in late August and beaches all very quiet.
Recommended for:  Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Dear reader, I am Dutch so please ignore faults in my spelling.

We stayed in the appartment from 25-07-09 till 08-08-09. On arrival the first impression was very nice. The appartment looks good cared for and very important was clean!! The 2 one person bed's were good. The third person used the sofa-bed in the living room. The beds are fine but the sofa-bed is not recommended. So 2 person stay is the best. its located near the SuperU supermarket so groceries are nearby. Although we prefered the Carrefour, 15 min drive towards Perpignan. The appartment is very cool so we didn't need to use the airconditioning, thats a big plus. The large balcony is very nice. We used it every night for a drink and something to eat. We did not explore any restaurant's in the area but there are a number of them. Speciale in the harbour area. (10 min walk).
The appartment is on a residence so do not expect to use this place as a location for a party holiday.
Owner's Response: We will look at the Sofa Bed but we have had other parties of 3 and 4 staying and so far this year no one else has mentioned the Sofa.
We have had a lot of personal emails thanking us for a wonderful holiday.

Hallo Leser,

wir mieteten das Appartment vom 09.August bis 16. August 2009. Die Wohnung machte von Anfang an einen guten Eindruck und verhalf somit zu einem wunderschönen und erholsamen Urlaub.
Die Wohnung ist neu und somit in einem einwandfreien Zustand. Es war sauber und von der Ausstattung her absolut in Ordnung und aussreichend, speziell die Küche hatte alles was man braucht (Geschirrspüler, Mikrowelle, Herd mit Ceranfeld, Kühlschrank, Gefrierschrank etc.).
Der Balkon ist groß und eignet sich hervorragend zu einem gemütlichen Abendessen und/oder einen Tag zum ausklingen lassen.
Ein Plus ist auch die vorhandene Klimaanlage, die wir persönlich aber nicht genutzt haben, da im Appartment auch tagsüber erträgliche und angenehme Temperaturen waren.
Das Gebäude indem sich das Appartment befindet ist mit einem Zugangscode gesichert und das Tor zum Gelände lässt sich nur von einer Fernbedienung (mit dem Auto) oder einem anderen Zugangscode (zu Fuß) öffnen, was einer jungen Familie doch viel Sicherheit bietet.
Ca. 50m von dem Appartment entfernt ist ein Supermarkt, in dem man alle Lebenmittel bekommt die man braucht und morgens frische,warme Baguettes.
In der Umgebung des Appartments sind mehrere Restaurants, die aber meist von den Preisen eher teuer sind.

Der E-Mail Kontakt mit den Vermietern war stets sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und flexibel, sodass sich der Verlauf als sehr unkomliziert und zuverlässig gestaltete.
Die Vermieter sowie die Appartment-Manager standen stets als Ansprechpartner zu Verfügung, die wir aber nie in Anspruch nehmen mussten.

Ich würde das Appartment jederzeit weiter empfehlen und wenn es sich ergibt auch wieder einen Urlaub dort verbringen!
