Our house is situated in a village between Carcassonne and Narbonne. A beautiful old wine domaine with modern comfort. There is a master bedroom with full ensuite & 5 further bedrooms with two further bathrooms. The upstairs can be approached from 2 staircases allowing ample privacy for 2 families, if required. Outside the pool is shaded by a central plane tree. The spacious terrace is perfect for alfresco dining. There is a table tennis table & boules. Tennis courts and a football pitch just around the corner. There are bikes for touring the vineyards and trails surrounding the village. We have 2 bread shops, tabac, post office, medical centre, small supermarket & a bar/restaurant within walking distance. The nearest beach is about 30 minutes away. The large sitting room has a flat screen TV, a PS3 and a great choice of DVDs & Games. The 'snug' is a quieter reading room, perfect for a day time nap! There is also a separate dining room. The kitchen and utility room are well equipped

Vineyards as far as the eye can see, providing access to spectacular countryside for both walking and cycling. A little off the beaten track, this area provides peace and quiet for those that want it but has plenty of things to do for those seeking a little more activity. Ferrals provides an exceptional location for access to the wider area. Canal du Midi ( 35 minutes) La Cite at Carcassone (20 minutes), Narbonne ( 20 minutes ) and the historic medieval town of Lagrasse ( 20 minutes ) Further afield we have the sensational Mediterranean beaches, the nearest being some 30 minutes away.

Bedroom 2 & 5 are at one end of the house. Bedroom 3 & 4 are at the other end of the house. Bedroom 6 provides the link between the two ends of the house. It is attached to the master bedroom and has an antique pine childs bed. In the event of 12 guests. this room can be furnished with 2 proper single beds

This doubles as a Blue ray DVD player. * There are x8 bikes available for use. x2 very good mountain bikes for the more discerning cyclist. x1 tall ladies bike (with basket). x3 adult bikes - suitable for road/tracks. There is a large child bike + a small pink one for the beginner - (no stabilisers) Whilst children are welcome at Domaine de Graffan it is not suitable for toddlers as we donot provide any childrens equipment - cots/hi-chairs etc Change over day is Saturday but we try to be flexible once the flight timetables have been published.

Why come to Domaine de Graffan?: Before buying Domaine de Graffan we spent many years renting properties in the area. Very often we found the large beautiful properties with landscaped gardens were enjoyed at the expense of the location. With large family groups one needs not to have to get in the car to go for bread, a glass of wine, a restaurant meal, a pizza takeaway, to play tennis/football or visit the local supermarket....and most importantly the local wine Cave! When we found Graffan it's location on the edge of a village was a real selling point for us. The locals are very friendly, and VERY French. The little centre over the bridge is a hive of activity in the mornings but the village seems to sleep in the afternoons, affording the peace and quiet we so often crave. When playing in the garden or music we ask all guests to be respectful of this quiet time.

The local wine Cave is literally opposite our gate ( and was once part of our Domaine). This carries a good range of local wines now marketed under the D'Orfee name - combining the local Caves of Ferrals and Ornaison since 2008. Infact the Graffan 2009 Rose is an award winner. They will be delighted to host tasting in July and August for the summer guests. The annual village fete is a 4 night party held in the village with live music and fair ground rides for the youngsters. This is usually the weekend around the 25th August and for the guests of that week provides a real taste of French entertainment! The tracks through the vineyards are open to all and provide miles of biking, running and walking with breath taking views and provide an easy 20 min off road route to the next village of Fabrazan where there are numerous bars/restaurants and the local Pharmacy. All this before you even begin to explore the other beautiful villages and ancient towns of the Corbiere.

A Real French Experience

The house is situated on a quiet lane on the outskirts of the village of Ferrals where we would head each morning, strolling across the pretty bridge, to buy fresh croissants and bread for the day. The villagers are friendly and the whole place has a feeling of tranquility and relaxation which was just what we were looking for when we choose Graffan. The owner's description of their home is as we found it - a beautiful old house with outbuildings set round a courtyard garden with a glorious swimming pool to one side where we sat most days under the shade of the tree when it got too hot. The views are of uninterrupted countryside and we found it very easy just to sit all day, swimming and relaxing and just taking it al in. The house is well furnished, spotlessly clean and eveything was in good working order - we had no probelms with anything. We explored the surrounding countryside by car and bike (what a lovely idea to provide bikes) and would recommend visits to Narbonne (the Cathedral is breathtaking) and Perpignan which is very pretty. We had a lovely time and would certainly recommend this property to anyone looking for a real French holiday.

We love this fabulous house.

The house is large and easily holds more than 1 family. There are 2 staircases, so you can have your own space. We loved having the pool to ourselves and it was so warm with the sun on it nearly all day. The terrace is ideal for meals in the sun, from breakfast right through to dinner.There are bakers and a small grocers in the village, a few minutes walk away over the river. The house is clean and beautifully decorated with some rustic French features. The beds are comfortable and the rooms can be kept cool with the shutters closed, although the thick stone walls help to keep the temperature down. We have been here 3 times and had around 34 degrees heat in August. It was easy to get directions and keys from Clare when we visited. We would recommend a trip to the ancient city of Carcassonne about 30 minutes away by car, you can go on the toll motorway or scenic back roads. We hired a car at Carcassonne airport very easily.The cathedral in Narbonne is also worth a visit, especially if going towards the beach. The nearby towns of Lezignan and Fabrizan have some good restaurants, and you can use the bikes to cycle to Fabrizan through the vineyards. Our teenagers enjoyed the table tennis and the pool the most, although they were quite keen to practise their French fetching the morning croissants. I would recommend this home to friends and family, so long as they don't want to book it when we want to go! Already looking forward to our next visit.

Authentic and oozing with character

Our family enjoyed a wonderful time this summer in the beautiful Domaine de Graffan in the village of Ferrals-les-Corbieres. This authentic and historic French farm house truly was amazing and spacious with gorgeous thick stone walls, seemingly oozing with character. It was a perfect location in a totally authentic French village and convenient to Perpignan and a variety of other French villages. We rode bikes and took walks through the picturesque tracks of the endless vineyards. We spent a wonderful day in Fabrazan, another in the ancient town of Narbonne and had an amazing trip to the walled city of Carcassonne. Domaine de Graffan has all the comforts with a lovely pool and private patio for outdoor eating and entertainment. It was exactly the trip we had dreamed of and we are looking forward to visiting again soon.

We wouldn't stay anywhere else!

For the past 2 years we've stayed in this wonderful house, and its a habit we have no plans to break!
The house is huge but homely, with plenty of space for 2 families to holiday comfortably together. We've enjoyed many a day relaxing by the pool & playing table tennis, only really leaving the house for an early evening bike ride through the vineyards into Fabrizan. Apart from the odd excursion, we have found there really isn't much need to venture out too much- it really is too easy to spend the whole two weeks housebound!
