Ilhabela is an archipelago located on the Southeast shore of Brazil. It lies within the area of the Atlantic Forest, and has a population of 25,000. The area is irrigated by numerous springs and streams from the surrounding mountains. The pretty village has retained its original colonial layout and a good balance of shops, bars and restaurants.
Beaches: Both north and south there is a beautiful stretch of coastline with cliffs and small sandy bays. Located just stairs down, is the delightful beach of Praia do Pinto, with over a kilometer of sandy beach. To be reached by car or by boat, there are other beaches with powdery sand and sparkling clear water, among them, Praia da Fome and Jabaquara to the north, and Feiticeira to the south. All major water sports are available, including water skiing, scuba diving and sailing. There is also a wealth of walking opportunities at all levels.
