Situated in the lush foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains with it's snow capped peaks is an area known as the Alpujarras where you will find this detached Villa. The Villa looks onto the Sierra Lujar Mountains with the Rio Guadalfeo flowing below. The Sierra Nevada Mountains rise up behind the property. This unique setting gives rise to mild winters, idyllic spring and autumn seasons and largely humid free summers. Tijola can be found as you travel out of the town of Orgiva as the road meanders through ancient olives groves, small farm dwellings, old olive mills, palm trees, banana palms, orange trees and wild flowers. The villa is surrounded by countryside allowing the sighting of a variety of fauna and flora. The villa and gardens are ideal for children. Local farmers still work the surrounding land in traditional ways and shepherds pass by with their goats. The property is in the heart of the friendly community as depicted in Chris Stewart´s Driving Over Lemons and other titles.

Ideally located in the foot hills with the tropical beaches, Sierra Nevada mountains and the City of Granada with the Alhambra Palace and gardens close by. Distances are approximate times from Orgiva. The villa is located on the edge of the village of Los Augustines, just over 3 km / 5 minutes from the market town of Orgiva. The city of Granada with the famous Alhambra Palace and its many superb restaurants and tapas bar is less than 1 hour away. The high villages of the Alpujarra found on the hills above the villa are unique and well preserved examples of the local architecture, 30 minutes away. Cordoba is approximately 3.5 hours. Seville 3 hours.

Additional TV & satellite TV are provided in the Master bedroom. Child minding can be arranged, also any baby equipment can be organised. Local taxis can be provided for long or short trips. There is plenty of parking at the property & you do not need to travel on unmade tracks in order to access the Villa. Toys and games can be provided. Within the gardens you can find a swing, hammocks & a tree house. Bikes can also be provided. The terraces are organically farmed and produce such as olive oil, fruit and vegetables may be available. All windows & doors are fitted with insect nets. For winter bookings the property is equipped with a cast iron Norwegian wood burning stove (fire guard available). All the windows are double glazed. The villa was built incorporating insulation from both the cold & heat.

Golf: A golf course is located alongside the beach in Motril on the Tropical Coast, approximately 30 minutes from the Villa. There is also a golf course located on the way to Granada approximately 45 minutes away.

Skiing: The Villa sits in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The highest peak of Mulhacen stands at 3,500 metres. The ski resort normally opens in December and closes in May. As the southern most ski resort in Europe it is unique in the level of sunshine it receives. Skiing, snow boarding, tobogganing, sleigh and husky rides can all be found in the ski resort approximately 1.5 hours away in the Solynieve ski resort which has a variety of pistes to cater for all levels. The ski resort itself offers all the usual facilities.

Special Interest: The Alpujarra, Sierra Nevada Mountains, the surrounding countryside, tropical beaches and ski resort cater for every type of holiday. With an altitude ranging from sea level to over 3,500 metres you will find a huge variety of natural environments along with their associated plants & animals. As a biosphere reserve the Sierra Nevada National Park is an incredible place to explore. The Natural Park covering much of the Alpujarra offers an equally rich environment. Cultural interests are catered for within this historic region where the cities of Granada with the Alhambra, Seville, Cordoba, Malaga & Guadix can be easily explored. There are a variety of activity centres locally catering for every interest. We have spent a fantastic week in this fine house. So peaceful and what a view! The singing of the birds, the colorful flowers and the lemons in the trees make the wide garden a paradise to be in. The house is provided with all modern comforts and even has an outside kitchen beside one of the terraces. And if you want to explore the area: Granada, the coast, and the snow of the Sierra Nevada are nearby. Thanks to the hospitality and service of the owner we had a carefree holiday.
