Chamonix is still considered the birthplace of mountaineering and alpine activities. In summer as well as climbing and walking, Chamonix is a centre for parapenting, rafting, biking and even golf. There are marvellous some mountain hikes to be enjoyed. The town has a huge range of bars and restaurants providing a variety of cuisine and fine dining from local Savoyarde through to Italian, Indian and Chinese. There is a Casino (passport and bulging wallet required) in the main square.
