Unspoilt traditional village in Sierra de Tramontana mountains. Alaro is away from tourist areas but easily accessible from Palma/Inca motorway. The village has a large old town with narrow streets and stone houses with tiled roofs. There is a central square with ample bars and restaurants, two supermarkets, several banks, chemist and newsagents. There are trains every 15 minutes to Palma with its cathedral, palace and other historic monuments, plus excellent shopping opportunities.
Alaro has stunning mountain views, a ruined castle and restaurant on the way up. Although ideal for a quiet holiday away from tourist areas, there are frequent local fiestas including that of the patron saint during the week ending 16th August, with many events including giants, street painting for children, devils dancing and fireworks.
The white sandy beaches of Alcudia, Muro are within easy reach of Alaro, as are Pollensa and Formentor, Soller, Deia, Bunyola and Orient .
