Photos and Description of this Rasquera holiday cottage 2 bedroom rural retreat, fantastic mountain views and beaches only 20 mins drive

This is the perfect place for a peaceful holiday away from the busy costas but within easy reach of lovely beaches. Our light and airy cottage has an open plan living space with a kitchen area, dining table and chairs and a sofa bed. The double bedroom opens out onto a tranquil, flower filled courtyard and you can lie in bed and gaze at the pool and views beyond. There is another bedroom with twin beds, which can be pushed together into a double. The sparkly blue and white bathroom has loo, basin and shower. Outside you have a private BBQ and eating area and endless space to roam. This is such a special place, not only in the summer, but spring offers fantastic walking and wild flowers and autumn wild mushrooms, cycling, fishing (yes, the mighty river Ebro is 5 mins up the road) sightseeing and of course relaxing. Eat from our organic veg garden,collect eggs form the chickens or just lie besides the stunning swimming pool (may 1st-end sept) with a good book. You won't want to leave!

The coastline 20 mins drive from us has been happily missed by mass tourism. There are many small beaches and coves and it is easy to find a quite one even in the height of summer. The ebro valley played an important role in the Spanish civil war and there are many castles, ruined villages and museums around to testify to its past. Rasquera is a small agricultural village, old men chat in the shade of the trees in the square and horses and carts are still used.There are however, a range of shops to provide you with the basics if you don't want to venture out of this lovely valley. El Perello, 10 mins drive offers more shops and a lively saturday market. The Catalans love their fiesta and in the summer especially you are never far from one. Catch Rasqueras in the first week in Aug when the village goes into party mode and firework wielding devils chase old and young through the streets and music goes on till early in the morning. Here you have it all mountains, river and sea!

  • PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PRICES GIVEN ARE FOR TWO BEDROOMS. In order to keep our property good value for a couple (with kids if they go on the sofabed) we have two price bands. For prices for just the one lovely bedroom please deduct 200 euros per week.
  • Prices given one a nightly basis are per person.
  • We ask for a 20% deposit to secure the booking and the rest to be paid 8 weeks before the holiday.
    We also ask for a 50 euro returnable deposit.

  • The spacious bathroom is sparkling white with turquoise mosaic tiles around the room and in the generous shower tray. There is also a loo and washbasin with cupboards below. An instant gas water heater provides endless hot water. Where possible we have used reclaimed wood and the doors to the towel cupboard are particularly lovely examples. There is, as with most of the windows here, a lovely view of the mountains.

  • The bedroom with the double bed is a beautiful tranquil space which opens out onto a lovely flower filled courtyard complete with a pond. This is shared with the owners. There is a fan over the bed to keep you cool, handmade olive wood bedside lights, a small wardrobe and dressing table. You can lie in bed and look through the courtyard to the swimming pool and mountains beyond heaven! Bedroom 2 has two single beds which can be pushed together, a chest of drawers and a cooling fan over the bed. There is also a double sofabed in the living area if needed. To keep the costs lower for you there are 2 price bands either with 1 bedroom or 2.

Notes: Outside there is a gravelled private garden with more of those fantastic views and a barbeque with wooden table and chairs in which you can soak up the tranquillity of this peaceful place. For the chillier months, if you are coming for the walking, the brilliant spring flowers, cycling, fishing or the famous October mushrooms, there is an efficient wood burning stove to keep you warm.

We have an organic veg garden that visitors are encouraged to purchase from just help yourselves and pay before you leave. There are also eggs from our free-range chickens for sale as well as a delicious selection of home-made goodies from the freezer. For the evening when you just want to be free to gaze at the mountains with your glass of wine we offer a variety of meals. We can simply bring you something tasty and home cooked for you to sling on the table or we will prepare a 3 course meal and serve it to you in our lovely outside kitchen. Please give us some notice for any meal options.

Philippa is a trained holistic therapist and will be happy to give you a relaxing aromatherapy massage or holistic facial to enhance your day. Prices on request.

our lovely swimming pool is unheated and therefore only suitable for use between 1st may and the end of september.

we had the most relaxing holiday at little house,waking up every day late and strolling to the pool, looking out over mountains and olive groves. We loved the space which meant our 3 children could wander safely and freely and we loved the peaceful tranquility . Pick your own fresh veg and chicken eggs, baby chicks and ducks and the lovely dogs gave us something to do each day whenw e wern't sleeping, swimming , eating, drinking or listening to music.
watch out, we might move in permenantly!

Very rarely do holidays live up to your expectations, this one did! The owners were relaxed and friendly. The accommodation was exactly as described and further enhanced by the sun and the sounds of the rural setting. Phillipa cooked us a lovely three course meal and was accommodated our vegetarian and our extremely picky child. We did not venture far because we all loved the peace and tranquility and there is plenty of space to potter about . We all want to go back!
