The coastline 20 mins drive from us has been happily missed by mass tourism. There are many small beaches and coves and it is easy to find a quite one even in the height of summer. The ebro valley played an important role in the Spanish civil war and there are many castles, ruined villages and museums around to testify to its past.
Rasquera is a small agricultural village, old men chat in the shade of the trees in the square and horses and carts are still used. There are however, a range of shops to provide you with the basics if you don't want to venture out of this lovely valley. El Perello, 10 mins drive offers more shops and a lively saturday market.
The Catalans love their fiesta and in the summer especially you are never far from one. Catch Rasqueras in the first week in Aug when the village goes into party mode and firework wielding devils chase old and young through the streets and music goes on till early in the morning.
Here you have it all mountains, river and sea!
