Birkihraun is a cottage that is located in Borgarfjordur, Iceland. Ground floor of 85 m2 includes two well sized bedrooms with a double bed and a master bedroom with a king size bed, a well equipped kitchen, bathroom with a shower and a open plan living room. Microwave, 32' flat screen TV, DVD player, washing machine and a dryer. On the 100 m2 terrace surrounding the cottage there is a hot tub for 6-8 persons, gas barbecue, table and chairs. The view from the cottage is just spectacular in all directions.

Nearest Ferry: Seyðisfjörður at 600 Kilometres
Nearest Beach: beach at 25.0 Kilometres

The Cottage is located an hour drive from the capital city, Reykjavik. Only 20 minutes drive from the cottage is a town, that includes 2000 inhabitants, called Borgarnes. In Borgarnes you can find all the service you need, shops, supermarkets, restaurants, a great 18 hole golf course, heated outdoor swimming pool and many other things. It takes only ten minutes to walk from the cottage to Bifrost, which is a small village of c.a. 500 inhabitants. In Bifrost you can find a small supermarket, a friendly cafe with a internet connection and just across the street there is a small, 9 hole golf course. Hredavatn is a fishing-lake that you can see from the window of the cottage and takes only 5 minutes to drive up there. Birkihraun is perfectly located for mountain hikers, so many great mountain in just a walking distance from the cottage.

Our week in Iceland was very enjoyable due to
the standard of the cottage and its position.
Everything inside the cottage was of a high standard, especially the beds. The underfloor heating was very effective.
The view from the windows was fantastic.
Volcano and riverside walks on the doorstep.
Being next to Route 1 made trips out easy (Gullfoss waterfall,Snefjellness Peninsular,Western Fijords and Reykjavik).
The only problem we had was finding the cottage at 02.00 in heavy rain as our flight landed at 23.30.
