Hainault is a 5 star, Grade II listed Cotswold home dating from the 1600's, situated in the historic village of Blockley with an elevated position with stunning, rural views. Finished to a very high standard, Hainault is the perfect escape for friends and family. The house dates back more than 400 years and retains many original features including a stunning inglenook fireplace in the main living room for cosy evenings with friends. It includes a farmhouse kitchen with an Aga, a utility room and smart separate dining-room; upstairs is a second living room with an HD plasma TV and DVD player - always a great place for the kids to play. All bedrooms are double, with one being en-suite and two having super king size zip and link beds for flexibility.

Known by many locals as the 'secret village', Blockley is a peaceful, charming village with its mill stream winding its way through the bottom of the valley. The elegant High Street winds its way past traditional Cotswold stone cottages and houses built into the hillside and ends in a wood where you can enjoy a stroll (you may see deer if you are quiet). A quick glance at a Cotswold Explorer map (several copies of which are maintained at Hainault for guests) will show that Blockley is situated perfectly for many enjoyable walks directly from the village centre, winding off into the beautiful surrounding countryside. The village has a very good delicatessen and coffee shop, selling good quality organic wines, cheeses and delicious cakes. If you would like to eat out in the village, there are two excellent pubs - The Crown Inn, with its restaurant, bar and roaring open fires, where you can sit outside and enjoy a drink in the nicer weather.

Things To Do Around Blockley: A number of scenic walks originate in or pass through the village, including the Heart of England Way, Monarch’s Way and Diamond Way. Moreton-in-Marsh, with its regular train services (London: from 90 minutes direct), swimming-pool and wide range of shops is a few minutes’ drive away. In addition to the beautiful countryside, the Cotswolds boasts a wide range of attractions, including the famous towns of Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold and Broadway, stately homes such as Blenheim Palace and Snowshill Manor and outdoor attractions such as the Cotswold Wildlife Park. Also within easy reach of Hainault are the dreaming spires of the university town of Oxford, the spa towns of Bath and Cheltenham, Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare and home to the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Eating and Drinking in Blockley: If you would like to eat out in the village, there are two excellent pubs - The Crown Inn, with its restaurant, bar and roaring open fires, where you can sit outside and enjoy a drink in the nicer weather, and The Great Western Arms which serves good family meals with excellent views from the beer garden. There is also Lower Brook House Hotel, where you can arrange to go out for that special meal. Nearby is The Horse and Groom with celebrated menus and if you prefer an morning stroll with a fabulous lunch, try The Churchill Arms in Paxford.
