This is an ok apartment, but nothing outstanding about it. It is in a fairly quiet street, but the view out of the window is not good (it faces onto a restaurant and the backs of other buildings accross the way) and the stairway and hall is very dusty and dirty - not having been cleaned for a long time. Although a bidet and microwave is advertised as included, these things are not included in the apartment and when we asked the agent why, we were told that owners add things to this site that are not true, but no real apology was offered. The ceiling fan in the living room also does not work and apparently has not worked for a long time. The hot water boiler is very noisy and makes strange sounds in the night. Washing machine works well and there was plenty of hot water for long showers. Location is ok, however all the surrounding resturants are overpriced. There is however a lovely bakery at the end of the street on Rue de France. Decor and furniture was good throughout and beds were comfortable, although the duvets did not have covers on them and neither did the extra pillows. The apartment would benefit from a proper welcome pack with information to hand on arrival - we struggled with the internet connection and the english speaking channels but we got there eventually. It would make sense to take inventory before and after each set of guests as I am sure we were lacking in equipement in the kitchen - there seemed to be 6 of everything except wine glasses and we did not break anything! We took photos to prove we had not as the agent takes your credit card details in case of damage or breakage, but I dont see how they can enfoce that when no inventory is signed for. Expensive for what it was, but then when in Nice nothing is cheap!
Owner's Response: We are sorry you feel this way as we have had nothing but positive feedback about this apartment all summer.
The apartment does indeed face a restaurant and the front of other buildings which is why the street is so quiet and sought after.
The stairway and other communal areas are the responsibility of the Syndic building management company and therefore it is legally their responsibility to keep these areas clean – we have since notified them of your comments about these areas.
The bidet and microwave have been removed since the advert was last updated so we apologise for this typo and have since rectified this as we wouldn’t want anyone else turning up faced with an apartment lacking a microwave and bidet.
It was explained that the ceiling fan is an original ornamental feature of the apartment which is why we provide free standing floor fans.
Apologies for the restaurants being overpriced but this is beyond our control and maybe in future it may help your budget to make more use of the kitchen.
The duvets and extra pillows did not have covers on them because it is still very hot in sept and the duvets are usually stored away. Guests are provided with 4 pillows all with cases and should you require more pillows you are asked to let us know.
There is a welcome pack and information on arrival as Amanda pointed out when she spent time explaining to your daughter how to log onto the internet.
As you said there was 6 of everything which is why an inventory was not required if a wine glass had been broken we treat this as natural wear and tear and do not charge guests.
I am sorry you feel this holiday was expensive for what it was, in my opinion with a little research, the Riviera can be an extremely cost effective holiday location.
Many thanks and I hope this hasn't put you off holidaying in Nice.
