Charming country cottage in a peaceful hamlet. 15 minutes from magnificent medieval Dinan. 30 minutes from beautiful beaches. Excellent walking and cycling country. Golf, fishing, riding, lakes, markets & festivals nearby. Shops, restaurant & bars 2km. The cottage has its own private above ground pool and hedged-in back garden (comprised of barbecue area, pool area and lawn area) with garden furniture, games and pool accessories. Adjacent to owners’ home. The cottage: Ground floor: open plan kitchen, dining & living area, with back door onto private garden. First floor: double bedroom with ensuite bathroom/WC, double bed and a single bed on a raised platform with balustrade & curtain. Second floor: bunk beds + 1 single bed and ensuite shower/WC. All mod cons, beds made on arrival, end-of-stay cleaning included. Changeovers Saturday.

Le Plessis is situated just 10 minutes from the magnificent medieval fortress town of Dinan. A place of great beauty and historic interest, Dinan overlooks an ancient port on the river Rance. 30 minutes to the vast sandy beaches of Cote d'Emeraude, Mont St Michel 1 hour. Within easy reach are many other places of interest including St Malo, Dinard, Rennes, Carnac, local châteaux and megaliths, and the Cote de Granit Rose. The forest of Paimpont, on the lake of La Marette, is steeped in Arthurian legend. There one can visit the tomb of Merlin the Sorcerer and the Fountain of Youth. Numerous local markets and cultural heritage festivals take place throughout the year.

Perfect base for short holiday

This was a charming little gite which formed part of a larger property occupied by the owners, Steve and Janine. The place was absolutely spotless and well equipped for living and for leisure activities, inc swimming, swingball, boules, badminton etc. The pool was of an above ground 16ft circular construction and was a welcome addition to the gite in the hot weather.
At night it was very quiet and we loved looking at the amazing celestial display every night of stars, planets, satellites and shooting stars.
Steve and Janine were perfect hosts, discreet yet available for chats and questions and very obliging.
The gite was close to Caulnes and Dinan, towns handy for supermarkets, petrol and markets. The beautiful beaches at Saint-Luanire were just 30 minutes' drive away and there were plenty of activities to keep the children happy. The gite was nestled in a small hamlet of farms and smallholdings and daily bread was available about 2km away in Plumaudan. Evening walks became a highlight of the week-long stay and the children loved seeing all the farm animals - goats, sheep, horses, cows, geese, chickens etc.
Altogether a relaxing holiday which we would be happy to recommend to others with children in the 9-13 age range.
