In the centre of historic Marseillan, our wonderful 'maison de village' occupies a corner position on a quiet street just a couple of minutes walk from the village square and the old port. Beautifully renovated for 2009 with exposed beams and high quality fittings and furniture. On three levels, the ground floor provides a twin bedroom with full en-suite shower room. On the first floor is a bright modern lounge with dining area combined with a brand new fully fitted kitchen. There is also a flat screen TV with French and UK satellite plus DVD player. A spiral staircase leads up to the master bedroom and sun terrace. The bedroom has a king size bed, gorgeous en-suite and direct access to the terrace. The walled terrace is furnished with table, sun umbrella and reclining loungers and provides total privacy for lazy afternoons in the sun. The central position of the house means that all the village has to offer, including a choice of more than 20 restaurants, is just an easy stroll away

Easily accessible from a number of local airports, the ancient fishing port of Marseillan nestles on the edge of a huge inland salt-water lake, the Etang de Thau. The attractive port is home to numerous sailing boats as well as providing a stopping off point for canal cruisers navigating the Canal du Midi which crosses the Etang on route to Sete. The Etang is famed for its shellfish cultivation including fabulous oysters and mussels, attracting fishermen, windsurfers and sailors alike. With its surrounding vineyards, the Noilly Prat cellars, its host of small restaurants, Marseillan is a paradise for food lovers. The area inland is perfect for cycling and walking, yet some of the safest and best beaches on the Med are just a few kilometres away. If you tire of the beach, the old towns of Agde and Pezenas are nearby and the historic cities of Carcassonne, Beziers and Montpellier are all easily reachable. The fortified town of Aigues-Mortes is also worth a visit.

THE VILLAGE: MARSEILLAN is a vibrant working village and as such provides all the modern day amenities that are needed to make your stay as easy and enjoyable as possible. As well as a good supermarket, there are numerous boulangeries, butchers, deli, fresh fruit/veg shops plus stalls selling the local shellfish. There is an indoor market plus a full street market on a Tuesday morning. You need never cook if you so wish as the village is home to more than 20 restaurants. Many of these line the charming port, and specialise in the local Languedoc cuisine and wines. Other lakeside villages such as BOUZIGUES with its oyster beds also have stunning seafood restaurants.

OUT AND ABOUT: BEACH LIFE - MARSEILLAN is only 3 miles inland from some of the nicest and safest beaches along the Mediterranean. The Etang is separated from the sea by a narrow spit of land, providing some 11 kilometres of unspoilt beach running all the way to neighbouring SETE. In addition there are the traditional family seaside resorts of MARSEILLAN-PLAGE and CAP D'AGDE providing a variety of water sports. There is also a self contained naturist village with its own 2km nudist beach on the outskirts of Cap d'Agde. WALKING and CYCLING - Picturesque vineyards grow right to the edge of the village. As well as providing ample opportunities for a spot of wine-tasting, the area is lovely for both walking and cycling. Further afield, the mountains are only an hours drive away. SAILING - The Marseillan Sailing Club offers courses to beginners and experienced sailors. OTHER ACTIVITIES - Karting, Petanque, Tennis, Horse riding, Windsurfing, Golf, Kite surfing and Paint ball are all available in the area

GETTING THERE: BY AIR - The nearest airport being just 12 miles from the house is BEZIERS /VIAS /CAP D'AGDE and is served currently by RYANAIR from BRISTOL and LUTON. Other nearby airports - MONTPELLIER (33 miles/30mins), NIMES (65 miles/1hr.20), PERPIGNAN (72 miles/1hr.10), CARCASSONNE (75 miles/1hr.20), TOULOUSE (134 miles/2hrs.) are all served from the UK and IRELAND by a selection of low cost carriers including RYANAIR, EASYJET, BMIBABY, FLYBE and JET2. BY EUROSTAR/TGV - From LONDON ST PANCRAS to MONTPELLIER or AGDE (Journey time approx 7hrs 30mins) BY ROAD - MARSEILLAN is a comfortable days drive from the CHANNEL PORTS. CALAIS ( 651 miles/9hrs.30) LE HAVRE ( 562 miles/8hrs.30). Our preferred route is via ROUEN following the A75 down through CLERMONT FERRAND and crossing over the stunning new VIADUC DE MILLAU (bring a camera!)

Great location - short walk to village square/harbour etc. Property was furnished to a very high standard and very well maintained. Would recommend this property to a friend but not with young children or teenagers.

Superb location right in the centre of the beautiful unspolt market town.Tastefully renovated spacious and airy.Photos very accurate close to a 14km stretch of unspoilt beach . Numerous restaurants near by. Clean well equipped accomodation .

Una casa limpia,cómoda y bien equipada.Situada en un pueblecito seguro,tranquilo y con un vecindario amable y dispuesto a ayudar, a corta distancia (cinco minutos a pië) de restaurantes y tiendas de alimentación y a una corta distancia en coche (diez o quince minutos ) de excelentes playas.
La casa es perfecta para una familia con niños (no muy pequeños por las escaleras ) o para dos parejas.
Los propietarios fueron siempre atentos y encantadores facilitandonos información sobre la zona, la casa, cómo llegar, dónde ir, qué visitar...
Sin duda alguna es una zona y una casa que merece la pena visitar y que recomendamos para pasar unos dias de descanso.
