Le Mesnil Gonfroy is a peaceful farmhouse set in rural Normandy 20 minutes from beautiful sandy beaches. In addition to the 6 characterful bedrooms there is a well-equipped kitchen with arch through to breakfast room, a large, beamed drawing room with enormous stone fireplace, dining room with beautiful old oak table seating 12 and a games room. French doors make the mature garden accessible from every ground floor room, the garden comes equipped with furniture and a gas BBQ. The heated 10m x 5m swimming pool, set on the lower lawn away from the house, has sunloungers and pool side furniture. Nearby the pretty village of Hambye offers bars, restaurants and a market in addition to other small shops where fresh food can be purchased. The spacious, centrally heated farmhouse has been renovated to a very high standard. The house and pool are both wheelchair accessible.

This very beautiful part of Normandy is so easy to reach from England via Cherbourg or Caen yet remains completely unspoilt. The countryside is real Normandy with brown and white spotty cows, cider orchards and small family farms. The area is renowned for its delicious food; cheese, cider, pommeau and calvados and especially for its fish and shellfish. The wide, safe, sandy beaches on the nearby coast never seem to get busy and the warm shallow sea is lovely for swimming. At low tide watch the local farmers with their tractors tend the acres of oyster and mussel beds - fascinating. Within easy reach of the house are the world famous Mont St Michel and the medieval town of Bayeux with its ancient tapestry depicting the battle of Hastings. To the North East are the historic D Day beaches of the Normandy landings of World War II - Gold, Omaha, Sword and Utah and the fascinating war museums at Arromanche, Caen etc.
