Le Tilleul is an attractive property offering an ideal and comfortable base from which to explore this wonderful region. It offers accommodation for up to 11 people, in a main house for 6 and adjoining annexe for 5. The grounds contain a 10x5m pool which receives the sun from dawn till dusk. The lovely garden, which has plenty of trees, shrubs and flower borders is surrounded on two sides by a walnut plantation. The terrace which overlooks the pool provides an ideal location for outside eating. Beautiful towns of Collonges-la-Rouge & Turenne are 12km away and spectacular Rocamadour is 1/2 hr drive. The Dordogne river is only 12 km away, offering canoeing, fishing, swimming and at Souillac 22km waterpark, riding, mini golf are available. There are many delightful villages, famous caves e.g. Padirac, and chateaux in the area. Markets, restaurants, fetes and festivals are plentiful and all essential shops and services are available within 2km. Served by good road, rail and air links.

Le Tilleul's fantastic location makes it an ideal base from which to explore the many renowned attractions in the area. There are several of 'Les Plus Beaux Villages de France' including Turenne, Collonges, Curemonte and St Cirque Lapopie. Medieval towns such as Beaulieu, Sarlat, Domme, St Cere and Martel are within an hour's drive. A boat trip, or for the more energetic, a day's canoeing on the Dordogne, are ideal ways to view the sights of La Roque Gageac, and the chateaux of Beynac, Montfort and Castelnaud. The most spectacular site is Rocamadour, only 35km away. The limestone terrain is home to many spectacular underground caves e.g. Padirac. Family attractions include a steam train ride and Reptileland at Martel, Eagle and Monkey sanctuaries near Rocamadour and a waterpark, minigolf and horseriding at Souillac to name a few.There are many lovely local walks in undulating, wooded countryside. Les Quatre Routes 2km and Martel 7km have all services, supermarkets & restaurants.

Notes: The main house has an open plan living area of lounge/diner and kitchen. The annexe also has a seperate kitchen, equipped with all the facilities listed above. In the main house the kitchen facilities include the oven, hob, refrigerator and microwave, whilst the washing machine, dishwasher and a large fridge/freezer are housed in a separate utility room. Both kitchens are well equipped and have kettle, coffee maker,toaster, iron & ironing board. The lounge area in the main house has 2 large leather sofas seating 6. Two glazed doors open out onto a large terrace with outside dining table and chairs, with views over the garden, pool, surrounding walnut plantation and wooded hills beyond. The large dining table will seat up to 12 people. The annexe has an additional living area with a 3 piece suite, extra sofa and a dining table for 5 people. A variety of videos, books and games are available for guests use.

Suitability: The property is ideally suited to a large group or 2 families looking to share, but retaining some independence. There are a couple of sets of steps on the ground floor of the main house and from the terrace down to the garden, which unfortunately make it unsuitable for wheelchairs or people with very limited mobility. The edge of hamlet location gives you a peaceful , rural aspect with views over the local river valley - yet you are close to a very well-serviced town (2km) and accessible to a plethora of wonderful attractions.

Outside facilities: The 10x5m pool is graduated in depth to 1.8m from Roman steps at the shallow end and has an electric driven cover for security. Pool games like polo and basketball are available. Children's play equipment including a sand shell, tent and skittles are provided. A barbecue is provided. An old barn is to become a playroom, and currently houses a dartboard (bring your own darts), 2 bicycles for your free use, table tennis and table football. Badminton, volleyball and boules equipment are also provided. The pool area has 6 sun loungers, tables, parasols, and a table and chairs. There is ample parking for several cars.

Other local facilities: There is a railway station in Les Quatre Routes du Lot (4 minutes by car) which is connected to Brive le Gaillarde by an attractive branch line. Brive has good connections to Paris (4 hours). Les Quatre Routes du Lot has a cash machine, supermarket, 2 bakeries, pharmacy, post office, petrol stations, paper shop, wine shop and restaurants. Martel (7km) has several nice restaurants, a covered market, supermarket, shops and full banking facilities. There are other restaurants at Sarrazac 5km away and Turenne 12 km away. The main shopping and market town in the area is Brive le Gaillarde, half an hour to the north. It has many large hypermarkets, plenty of shops and restaurants, some within the attractive old centre.The markets at Brive, Sarlat (50km) and Cahors (85km) are huge and lively. Family attractions include a steam train ride and Reptileland at Martel; Eagle and Monkey sanctuaries near Rocamadour and minigolf and horseriding at Souillac,which with Betaille has a water park.
