Cala Murada is a quiet resort between Porto Colom (5km) and Porto Criston (9km). Villa Maria is situated 10 minutes walk from the resort centre where a collection of restaurants and tapas bars are situated. There are two supermarkets and two banks in the resort providing essentials as well as a laundry, hairdresser and medical facilities. A 10 or 15 minutes walk will take you to a choice of prime beaches. A five to ten minute drive will take you to various other busier resorts with a choice of alternative beautiful beaches. There is a championship golf course only five minutes away and there are 12 other golf courses on the Island. You also have the choice of visiting the Caves of Drach, Tropical parks, Zoo safari and of course the water parks, the closest being only a 45 minute drive. Porto Colom is well worth a visit offering a choice of high quality restaurants and Cafe bars.

Amazing villa!!!

Myself and my family have just returned from a week in this villa. There were 7 adults and one child and the villa was beyond all of our expectations. For a start when you are packing, do not underestimate how every single need has been thought of - plug converters, fully equipped kitchen, towels, sky tv, dvds, candles, games you name it!

The only problem we had was we did not rent a car due to the large number of us. We organised an airport transfer for about 30 euro a head which was no problem. One of our party had an injured ankle so we got a taxi up to the village sometimes as it is a 10-15 min walk uphill (no problem on the return journey with some sangrias on board) and again this was no problem. Where we did experience a problem was grocery shopping. Neither of the shops in Cala Murada sell meat save for some frozen chicken and frankfurters. We wanted to BBQ quite a bit and so we got a taxi to calas de mallorca but even at that the shop only had 8 hamburgers and two steaks.

To make a long story short, if you dont wish to rent a car, negotiate with your private transfer driver to stop at a supermarket in a larger town en route!

Overall the villa was fantastic and we will definately be going back - great value for money!
Owner's Response: Really pleased to read this review about the quality of our Villa, it makes all my hard work worth while! Disappointed to hear about the local supermarkets and their lack of BBQ food. A guest who has recently been to Villa Maria organised a taxi from the Villa to the huge Euroski supermarket, the driver waited for them and helped with the packing etc the telephone number for the taxi company is in the Villa. So there is a way around the shopping problem if you really do not wish to hire a car.
