Explore the Cathar ruins of Minervois region, shop for local produce at markets in the surrounding towns or simply enjoy a shady stroll to a waterside restaurant along the picturesque Canal du Midi. Maybe you just want to relax and enjoy a glass of wine and a good book? Then enjoy the swimming pool or the outdoor jacuzzi, dine al fresco on the large shaded deck or just work on the tan in the Mediterranean garden. Nearest Airport: Carcassone at 30 Kilometres
Nearest Train: Narbonne at 20 Kilometres

Roubia is a small village on the Canal du Midi just 45 minutes from Carcassonne & Bezier airports, and one hour from the airports of Perpignan,Montpellier & Toulouse. The village has a bar, general store or Epicerie , Boulangerie, and 5 Caves, all of which offer wine testing. There are a number of local restaurants including Fourchette Folle in the village square and Cafe du Port on the canal bank in Paraza, the next village. Local markets are held daily in nearby towns where you can mix with the locals and buy fresh, high quality produce at great prices - a must for foodies - then stop for coffee and a croissant and and watch the world go by. The area is famous for its historic chateaux and Cathar castles, the most famous being the walled city of Carcassonne, made famous by Kate Mosse in her best seller Labyrinth. There are many fine, sandy beaches close by, Narbonne-Plage & Gruissan being the closest at 30 minutes.

Notes: Secure off road parking for 3 cars to the front of the property. Electricity included. End of rental cleaning included. Pool cleaning included. Gas BBQ. Outside lighting. Jacuzzi. The house is accessed by a set of stairs (15) which makes it unsuitable for the very young and infirm. Situated opposite the local Bouladrome, games are plentiful and you can often watch local matches. Children can enjoy playing football on the local pitch whilst adults can watch from the comfort of the veranda whilst partaking in a glass of the local wine. An extensive DVD, CD and book collection is available for your use. We have spent many years living in Sweden and the decor of the house reflects this with wooden floors and clean lines. The lounge is very comfortably furnished with large deep couches, an LCD television, DVD player and Bose IPOD player. We have tried to provide you with everything you need to enjoy your holiday - all you need to bring are your swimmers and sunglasses

We stayed at this property for 1 week at beginning of September 2009.
The property is outstanding and has everything you could want, all you need to take are your clothes. The property is very private and the pool area and garden are perfect. The location is wonderful, quiet village setting with 2 restaurants and shop. There are many villages around with loads of bars and restaurants and the canal that runs through all the villages is lovely. 30 mins from the coast and only 45 from Carcasonne wihich is a must.
We are hoping to go back May 2010 and I am sure we will return again and again.
The owners are very helpful and the house is looked after by lucy who is English and cannot do enough for you.
You must try a restaurnat in the village called La Folchette Folly which is exquisite.

We had an excellent holiday in Rubia. The house and weather made the holiday exceptional. The property description did not due justice to the house which exceeded all expectations.
It was evident the owners take great care of the property and the mediterranean garden, where we spent much time, lounging by the pool.
The location is close to all the coastal areas and convenient for exploring the countryside - if you can drag yourself away form the pool and BBQ.
It must be said that Sandra was really helpfull and friendly.
Many thanks and hope to return next year.

The perfect place for a lazy relaxing holiday. The house and Rubia itself was everything you could ask for. The weather was fantastic during our stay, thank goodness for the pool.
After a BBQ at night, what better way to end the evening - a jacuzzi and a glass of wine.
The care the owners have given to the property is obvious.

Rubia is ideally located, without having to drive for miles to explore the coast and the many interesting towns and historic villages.
Enjoyed the house and the area so much we shall be visiting next year.
