ON THE MAIN BEACH. Lazy by day lively by night .One of a select few private properties in the area that have uninterrupted panoramic view of the main bay with its backdrop of mountains, islands, boats going in and out of the harbours and marina and the sound of the ripple of the sea splashing along the beach. Managed by a local english couple who are available 24hrs during your stay should you need them.

Nearest Airport: Bodrum at 80 Kilometres
Car: not necessary
The famous Temple of Apollo, with its impressive colonnades and snake-adorned head of Medusa is a 10min local bus ride from the apartment. There is a good selection of excursions available, including trips to nearby Ephesus, one of the country's most famous historic sites and one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, as well as several other classical sites; Dalyan Delta with its turtle beach, ancient tombs and mud-baths; boat trips to the Greek island of Kos, or a 5-island trip along the coast; shopping paradise trips and/or a Turkish Night in Kusadasi; Soke market; the Water Park; the 'Cotton Castles' of Pamukkale and there are daily boat trips along the coast to Bodrum. The main tourist shopping area is near the beach at Dauphin Square, a 10min walk from the apartment. The old town shopping area, which has a large colourful Saturday market is a 30min walk or short bus ride, The local dolmuses also take you to the daily night market and tea garden.

Two bedrooms, a double with king size bed, en-suit shower and balcony and a large twin bedroom. There are also two sofas in the lounge that make into beds. There is a second large shower room with WC and another separate WC. The apartment has a lift and an on-site caretaker. Sheets and towels are provided and the apartment is well furnished and equipment with wardrobes, storage, DVD player, fringe/freezer, washing machine, iron and board, utensils and everything you are likely to need for a perfect holiday.

How to get there: The best flights deals are usually obtained from Thomas cook, British Airways and Turkish Airlines flying into either Ismir or Bodrum Airports. Transfers can be easily arranged at little cost (normally about 20 pounds return per person) from either Airline to allow a smooth evolution to your Holiday Apartment.

More details on the apartment: The apartment sleeps up to 6 people, has marble floor and a bright and open plan lounge, diner and kitchen. The large main balcony inevitable becomes the focal point of everybody’s stay in the apartment. The property is not overlooked, and gives a combination of sun and shade throughout the day and is large enough for wining and dining al fresco in the evening. The beach immediately to the front of the apartment has Blue Flag status, it is cleaned everyday in the summer and has lifeguards. The sea is clear, has no tides and it is perfect for swimming. As guests you may also use the swimming pools and facilities of the neighbouring hotels.

A selection of large supermarkets start about a 10 minutes walk away or a 2-minute bus ride away. The local mini buses (dulmuses), which will take you over the whole area, stop close to rear of the apartment block.

This apartment couldn't be more convenient for the beach, restaurants, cafes and shops. Everything is on the doorstep so if you really are looking for a lazy holiday then this is the place to go.

The apartment is light and spacious and has a lovely outlook over the beach from the living room, kitchen and balcony. There is good storage so you don't have to live out of your suitcase, although the accommodation is perhaps a little basic. That said, it had everything we wanted and we were very pleased with our choice.

It's at the quieter end of the wide bay that fronts Altinkum but it's still lively, and the whole bay is an easy stroll from one end to the other. Altinkum offers a very good variety of places to eat, drink and dance, but is very family orientated so will suit all age ranges, although not necessarily those looking for a tranquil getaway.

The beach is sandy, the locals are very friendly (and not pushy), and the sea is warm and very safe for children.

We don't usually visit the same place twice but we had a great holiday and we'd definitely come back here.
