Located in a quiet leafy residential street minutes from Funchal The cottage at Nº15 is a perfect retreat to relax yet close enough to the action to explore with ease. This quaint carefully restored property has an open plan layout all on one level which leads out into a beautiful court yard surrounded by trees, flowers & fresh herbs, ideal for dining alfresco. There are high ceilings & wooden floors with original stone feature walls throughout. Decorated to a very high standard with all mod cons the cottage has a very cosy romantic feel, ideal in summer or winter. Steps at the side of the cottage lead up to your own private terrace with amazing views of the city, ocean & harbour. The Cottage is detached and set in the grounds of the owners main house, the two properties are opposite each other but the court yard separates the two still allowing privacy for guests. There´s ample street, if you don´t have a car details of local transport is provided along with general info on the area.

The cottage is a perfect base to explore funchal and the surrounding areas. Just a 10 minute walk down the hill and you are in the centre where you´ll find the cable car to Monte, 'zona Velha' the old town, museums, galleries, quaint streets filled with shops and the Old Blandy Wine lodge. There are Supermarkets, restaurants & cafes in funchal, if you are not driving & don´t feel like walking up hill to the cottage there are regular bus´s and reliable taxis available. Throughout the year there are many festivals worth visiting, from the carnival, flower, jazz & many more. At the harbour you can get daily trips for marlin fishing whale & dolphin watching. Palheiro golf club, Levada walks and the botanical gardens are just a few attractions that can be reached within 10 minutes by car or public transport. If you have a car this is an ideal base from which you can explore the rest of the island as the motorway 'via rapida' and all main routes are easily accessed, just minutes away.

There are a variety of books & music CD´s in the cottage. Outside the cottage has a gas barbecue, teak dining table & 4 chairs, 3 very comfortable water hyacinth arm chairs the terrace also has a table & chairs. The cottage has a laundry with washing machine and rack for drying. Beach towels provided. Smoking is only permitted outside.

We had a fantastic time in Madeira, partly due to this lovely cottage, which was exactly as described! The elevated view over the marina was spectacular. With an excellent array of well-maintained domestic facilities within the property, we wanted for nothing. The hill upon which the cottage was situated may render it an unwise choice for more elderly/infirm guests, however there was good provision of cheap buses and taxis from the town.

The quiet residential area was ideal. The local people were very friendly and welcoming, and we were made to feel very much at home. We particularly enjoyed the local restaurant recommended by the owner. The provision of an information file within the property to guide our travels was particularly helpful.

We found the cottage to be excellent value for money, well worth the price. All in all, a splendid choice for a cosy holiday for two!

very friendly, nice furnished, central and quiet

A peaceful and lovely place to stay. The owners are very open and helpful and at the mean time gave us all the space we wanted. Great value and very good equipped kitchen, even your own washing maschine... we had far to much cloth with us;-).
We adored the privacy and the nice courtyard with the herb garden which we could use for cooking.
If you don't like to walk uphill, a car is helpful but not necessary, there are also puplic transports and taxis.
Thanks to Louise and Raul to make our stay a great holiday.

The cottage was fantastic, what a brilliant holiday! It's a really lovely little property, nicely decorated and has everything you could ever need! Situation is perfect, just a short walk from the centre of Funchal, and in a lovely quiet area. Just be prepared to walk up some fairly steep hills! A perfect base if you're planning on getting out to explore the island, or if you're planning to cosy up on a romantic break. Beautiful accommodation, lovely people and a perfect location. Would definitely go back!
