2 bedroom renovated house in traditional Cretan village

A beautifully restored traditional village house in the unspoilt living village of Milatos. Ideally suited for those discerning holidaymakers who want tranquillity but accessibility to beaches, tavernas, mountains and attractive market towns and holiday resorts. The house is intimate enough for just a couple yet large enough for a family of 6 persons. The accommodation comprises of 2 air-conditioned bedrooms, 1bathroom, open plan living/dining room with a double sofa bed. The adjoining kitchen is equipped to a high standard. Many attractive design features brings this old ships captains house to life. For winter breaks the house has full central heating. The roof terrace has a generous shaded dining table and sun terrace all enjoying village and sea views.

You enter Captains house via a charming enclosed courtyard. Walk inside the house to the lounge dining area with a double sofa bed and adjoining a beautiful bathroom and well equipped kitchen. Down a couple of steps there is a large air-conditioned double bedroom with an open fireplace. Upstairs is a generous bedroom that has a double and single bed and air-conditioning. Above the courtyard is a roof terrace with a shaded dining table. For large groups this house can be booked in conjunction with the neighbouring Shipmates House. The house will be cleaned and have linen/ towels changed once a week.

Captain's House, Milatos

We enjoyed our stay at The Captain's House and found it to match the listing description accurately. It is a clean, well maintained property that has been tastefully modernised whilst still retaining some of its traditional charming features. The customer service provided by the owner and the property management company was excellent and I would recommend this property to friends and relatives. Milatos is a traditional, quiet Greek village and the resort of Milatos is very low key. There are some great tavernas on the sea front serving excellent fish, king prawns and moussaka. The "No Name" cafe/bar/bakery further along provided a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere day and night. There is internet access here and they serve a lovely latte if Greek coffee is not to your liking! For a livelier vibe, hire a car and go to Elounda or Ayios Nikolaos.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

a typical greek place to stay

A very nice little house well remake with all modern facilities.
An arrival package is proposed and it's a good idea.
The beach can been reached by foot and also little supermarkets.
Milatos is well situated to visit the north of greece: Agios Nikolaos, Knossos, Lassithi, Heraklion...
We have enjoyed our staying there and recommand it !
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Away from it all

It's true, you can, at least in Milatos. Sitting on the roof one summer evening end of june its very obvious. And should you be tempted to join that other civilization Milatos Beach is just 20 minutes waya - on foot. And the Captains lodge is very civilized as well, a stunning mix of an old village home and all modern things in life you can wish for. Clean and compatible with description and with an excellent, personal and friendly service from the property management.
We would have liked 1-2 more shops in the village, a bakery , but that's details. And we would, most heartedly, recommend this house
