Our gite is an entirely renovated traditional house, situated in the countryside near to the town of Surgeres in the Charente Maritime region. We are 30 mins. away from the historic town of La Rochelle, and 20 mins. from the beautiful and tranquil Marais Poitevin. Our gite has all necessary modern comforts and can sleep up to 8 people. The large living room with open kitchen and lounge area is light, spacious and south-facing. This is a lovely room with it’s own bar and fireplace. The Gite du Moulin has 4 separate bedrooms, 1 bathroom with shower and bath, and 2 separate toilets. Outside there is a shady garden with barbecue and terrace for you to relax in complete tranquility.

We are situated within easy reach of many of the region's attractions; La Rochelle and the beautiful beaches on the Ile de Re are just half an hour away. Chatellailon, which is our nearest beach and only a 20 minute drive, is a great place to visit for a family day out; put the kids in one of the beach clubs and enjoy the bustly town and wonderful indoor food market. Also within half an hour's drive are the towns of Rochefort, Niort and St Jean d'Angely. Slightly further afield, but well worth visiting, are Sainte with it's Roman history, the Ile d'Oleron with more great beaches, and Cognac with its tours of the distilleries. The Marias, which is just a 10 minute drive, is a beautiful green network of canals and villages. Visit Arcais or La Garette and unwind in this beautifully tranquil area. Bikes and boats are available to rent to explore this unspoiled treat. We are situated very close to Surgeres which has a great market and plenty of history, as well as an outdoor pool in Summer.
