Villa Vives is the perfect for a family a family holiday. It is a lovely bright sunny villa set on the mountain overlooking the village of Vives on one side, and Mount Canigou the other. It has a wide sunny terrace with pool suitable for families with children. Popular with walkers, with paths leading directly into the mountains from the villa or just 10 min drive will take you into the Pyrnees and you can join a walking club. Le Boulou is 5 min drive and has a full range of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, medical facilities. A 10 min drive will take you into the famous artists town of Ceret, with cobbled streets and popular Catalan market on Saturday. Visit the cafe where Picasso used to leave his drawings in payment, the art gallery and small cobbled streets with hidden cafes and open air restaurants. Just 20 min drive will take you to the wide sandy beach of Argeles. Popular with families and children, with entertainment in the evenings throughout summer months.
The seaside town of Collioure, just 30 min drive along the coast with magnificent views, was the home of many Impressionists. Charles Rennie Mackintosh lived the last four years of his life in Port Vendres, which has a superb fresh fish market. The castles of the Cathars are within an easy days compass and ready to explore. The Wild Life park at Sigean is a must for the children, or see the exhibition of the 'oldest man' at Tautavel. Perpignan has a fascinating history closely connected with Majorca. Skiing in season is 90 minutes away at Font Remu, Pyrenees 200 or Les Angles. The hills are laced with walks up into the high mountains. There are wide easy tracks even at high levels and more challenging paths to suit all walking tastes, like the GR10. Lanquedoc- Roussillon enjoys good weather and sunshine for most of the year and is famous for the variety of it's local wines. Most of the local vineyards are open for wine tasting and explanations of how the wine is produced.
