Barn Cottage is a 300 year old property in the centre of the medieval village of Slapton. It has a pretty walled garden with sun terrace and furniture. There are beautiful walks through the nature reserve by the lake. Slapton Sands with its three mile beach and sea is ten minutes walk away. It has sitting room, dining room, study (single bed) large kitchen,laundry room, cloakroom (wc), and sunroom, garage, on the ground floor. First floor has four bedrooms (three double 5 foot beds and a twin) Two shower rooms attached and a family bathroom. Central heating, travelling cot. Towels and linen included. Parking for three cars (important in this village). The lovely towns of Salcombe and Dartmouth are not far away(renowned for sailing). Slapton has one general store and two good pubs. (both serve food)

Barn Cottage is in the centre of Slapton Village. It is 10 mins. walk to the famous Slapton Sands beach-3 miles long. You can walk by the Ley. This is a freshwater lake and beautiful bird sanctuary. Dartmouth is 7 miles along the coast road. You pass Blackpool Sands ,a very well kept sandy beach which children love. This also has a restaurant. Kingsbridge (market town) and Salcombe (sailing) are in the other direction. National Trust properties in the area include Colyton Fishacre and Greenway ( Agatha Christie's home) Take the car to Dittisham or Dartmouth and go by the ferry. If the sun shines sit in the walled garden at Barn Cottage next to the lovely old church of St. James.

The South Hams is a wonderful and beautiful area for walking. We include one well-behaved dog. The beach is 3 miles long to the right at the end is the village of Torcross, there is no building. I suggest you bring your own beach towels. You pass a large freshwater lake (nature reserve) as you walk(or drive) from the village. Golf at Dartmouth or further away is Thurlestone. Sailing from Dartmouth and Salcombe is the most popular pastime in the area.

Golf: Dartmouth Golf and Country Club is 5 miles away. (Hilly Course) Welcomes visitors. Thurlestone is an old traditional club. Wonderful views over the sea and of Burgh Island. 40 mins.

Other Activities: National Trust properties at Plymouth and two near Dartmouth. Coastal walks
