Monte Dourado holiday apartment: Carvoeiro

We booked our apartment in Monte Dourado directly from the owner. She was very courteous, informative and great to deal with. The apartment itself was huge. It has 2 good sized bedrooms, a sitting room/living room, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and balcony. There are only 12 apartments situated around the pool and kiddies pool which was very quiet most of the time. There were 3 adults, a child and an infant in our party. Our 4 year old son loved it as did our 9 month old daughter. Reception is 50 yards away if you have any queries and the town and beach is about a 5 minute walk from the apartment. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from in the town, no doubt you'll find your own favourite. Slide and splash is about a 10 minute ride in a taxi and Zoo Marine about 20 minutes away. The kids will love these places. We spent most of the evenings relaxing on the balcony with a few drinks and it was very quiet. There are cleaners on site who will tidy up and freshen the apartment when you are out (dont forget to leave a tip for them,they deserve it). You dont need a car when you are staying here as the beach, bars and restaurants are all within walking distance and the taxi ride to Slide and Splash is about ten euros, and to Zoo Marine 20 euros. There is a hill to encounter on the way back from the town/beach, but it is only for about 150 yards, if my 4 year old son and 60 year old mam can manage it without difficulty for a week then most adults will too. The best place for a morning breakfast was The Irish Times, plus they have a nice pint of Guinness. All in all, this apartment in monte Dourado met all of our requirements. It was spacious, clean, nice pool, big balcony to relax on (overlooking the pool) and close to the beach, town and taxi rank. Reception will even call a taxi for you if you dont want to venture to the town yourself. The owner was a pleassure to deal with and I have no hesitaion in recommending this apartment to anyone who intends to visit Carvoeiro. We orgainsed airport transfer with the reception in Monte Douado (about 100 euro round trip from 5 to 8 passengers) as I didn't want to spend my holiday driving around. We would go back in a heartbeat. Many thanks for a wonderful holiday.
