Barnacre is set in the Forest of Bowland, a government recognised AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). 40 minutes drive to the Lake District and towns of Windermere and Bowness. 15 minutes drive to Lancaster with its parks, gardens, historic town and university culture. Closer to home there are several marked walks varying in distance, fly fishing is available by permit March - November some 10 paces from the door and there are 3 local shoots. Board House offers catered shoot packages by arrangement. There are several local pubs, restaurants and eateries and an excellent local taxi firm for those wishing to abandon their car for the day or evening. The owners are happy to make table reservations for guests by request and bike hire is also available.
Board House has an outdoor heated stone built dog house with run and although clean, well behaved dogs are welcome in seperate parts of the house, this makes an ideal place for drying off after a good walk or play in the gardens.
