Photos and Description of this Fontiers-Cabardes holiday house Newly Restored 400yr old Mediaeval 2 Bedroom Gite to sleep 4-6

The building was once part of the castle in Fontiers Cabardes dating to circa 1250. It has been the lodging of Pierre Paul Riquet during his time building the local section of the Canal Du Midi. The gite has been fully restored and includes all of the equipment that you would expect for your holiday. The bedrooms are furnished with antique beds and furniture. The bathrooms are floor to ceiling Italian tiled. TV and WiFi are available in the property at no extra charge, also you may have use of our private courtyard for barbecues in the summer months. All amenities are within 25 meters of the property, these include a shop, post office, Marie and a Bar/Restaurant which has free live music every other saturday during the winter and twice weekly during the summer. Car parking is within 5 meters of the Gite. A childrens play area is on the village green just 10 meters away. The village is high on the Black Mountains with a great deal to visit locally as well as Carcassonne Cite.

Known as the 'Pearl of the Black Mountains' Fontiers Cabardes provides a great base for your holiday. many facilities are only a short distance away inc. Walking, swimming, horse riding, tennis, historical castles and villages including Montreuil which is a world book village. Markets (including our own farmers' market during the summer), the Canal Du Midi and the source of the Canal Du Midi, Carcassonne with its Medieval Walled Cite and many concerts and festivals throughout the year. Our village has the Club 620 which is a great local bar/restaurant that has free live music twice weekly in the summer and fortnightly during the winter, the music ranges from jazz and folk to rock and pop, just sit outside enjoying the great food and music. The forests of the Black Mountains are on your doorstep and great walks can be enjoyed as well as spotting the local wildlife which includes many birds of prey. We can advise on some of the best places to visit. Just let us know your requirements.

  • • Rental Rates are based on a one week stay. (Except for the week-end price which matches two days.)
    • Prices are guaranteed, when an instalment representing 25% of the total amount has been received.
    • Rental periods run from 16.00 hrs Saturday to 10.00hrs following Saturday
    • Water, electricity, heating, towels and sheets are included in the rates of rentals.
    • An instalment of 25% is requested on booking. The balance should be paid six (6) weeks before arrival date.
    • In case of late reservation, the total amount of the stay will be requested on booking.
    • A guarantee (deposit) of 250 € will be required on arrival and refunded on departure, after inventory of fixtures & fittings. (Any damages or losses will be charged at cost of repair and deducted from the deposit.)
