Internet facilities: are available at several places in the village. Cash points: there are several cash points throughout the village. Cleaning: the apartment is cleaned to a very high standard prior to clients' arrival. Safety: the apartment has a centrally located smoke alarm. Towels: we ask clients to please not take bathroom towels out of the apartment. Smoking: we ask clients not to smoke inside the property. An ash tray is provided for use outside on the balcony. Transport Around The Area:
Car and bicycle hire is available in the village. Trains run to other parts of the Algarve or further into Portugal - nearest station is at Conceicao approximately 0.8km from the apartment - this makes it ideal for those not wanting to hire a car at the airport as it is only a short taxi ride from Faro airport to the railway station, Conceicao is then only 9 stops further on a very scenic coastal railway. Local buses go to other parts of the Algarve, buses from Tavira bus station travel further afield including to Seville and other parts of Spain. Private boat trips can be organised completely tailor-made to suit your wishes and are very good value for money - eg. fishing, bird watching in the Ria Formosa, exploring the coast, etc. and even a river taxi into the centre of Tavira!
Local Places of Interest:
Tavira is approximately 4km away, and can be reached by car, bus, train (2 stops), river taxi during the summer season - or walking for the more energetic! This beautiful and elegant historic town cannot be missed. It has avoided the excesses of development and lost none of its grace. The maze of cobbled streets and alleyways are a delight to explore. Tavira beach is as huge, unspoiled and enchanting as Cabanas beach, with the addition of several high quality restaurants. There are many other beautiful beaches along this stretch of coast, either mainland or island - all huge, clean and sandy, and never overcrowded even in high summer. The wonderful peaceful hills of the Serra do Caldeirao are only a few km north, with stunning views and a way of life practically unchanged for hundreds of years. The Spanish border is approximately 25km east, where the border castles, little lanes and old unspoiled villages are well worth visiting.
Golf:
Four top quality golf courses are within easy reach - the nearest, Benamor (5,,500 metres par 71) is just 1km approximately from the apartment. The other nearby golf courses include Quinta de Cima (6,256 metres par 72 - 10 minutes drive), Quinta da Ria (6,110 metres par 72 - 5 minutes drive, Castro Marim (5,466 metres par 72 - 15 minutes drive). The new Monte Rei golf complex is approximately 15 minutes drive from Cabanas. Lots of other superb golf courses in the Western Algarve and Western Spain are less than an hours drive away. Golf club hire is available in the village including trolleys.
Other Activities:
Bird Watching in the Ria Formosa nature reserve or the lovely Serra do Caldeirao hills. Kitesurfing: A very good school is in the village.
