Charming cottage set in a peaceful village, with one bedroom, living room, fully equipped kitchen & bathroom; perfect for two. Attached to the owner’s property it is set in 2 acres of secluded, romantic, mature park garden. The garden backs directly onto the beautiful River Boutonne. Whether you wish to chill out by the pool, or pick a quiet spot in the park, or fish on your own riverbank relaxation is on your doorstep. For the more active hire a canoe/rowing boat, go for a cycle ride or take a day trip to one of the many tourist attractions in the area. You can choose where to have your BBQ’s – on your own private outdoor dining area or why not on the riverbank? It’s your choice! The cottage is beautifully furnished with Satellite TV/DVD/CD Centre. The kitchen has cooker/fridge/dishwasher/Microwave- everything you need. Your hosts John and Frances live on site in the main house thereby offering you, the only guests, a personal service but whilst respecting your privacy.

Situated in a beautiful rural, sunny region of France, the tranquil village of Le Vert borders on the magnificent River Boutonne surrounded by fields of sunflowers; renowned within the area. The cottage is 10 minutes from the Forest of Chize for walking/cycling. As the nearest small town, Chize has most facilities (Shops, Bars/Rest etc). The larger historic Romanesque town of Aulnay is only 10km (Shops Bars/Rest/Supermarket/Markets/Historic Romanesque Church). Other main towns in the region are: Angouleme (Historic), Chef Boutonne (Market), Cognac (Golf, Cognac tours), Saintes (Roman Ruins & Amphitheatre) Dampierre (only 5km - fabulous Chateau/Bar restaurant), La Rochelle & Isle De Re (Harbour/marina/shopping/wonderful beaches), Poitiers (Futuroscope), and St. Jean d'Angély (Historic 12th century Abbey/Lakes). Fly into La Rochelle/Poitiers/Angouleme or by car exit A10 autoroute J34. From London take the TGV via Lille or Paris to Surgeres or Poitiers.

If you're searching for peace and tranquility in an amazingly beautiful, secluded setting, this is the holiday property for you. We are a retired couple and, as your hosts, we want the cottage to be your home and you must feel free to roam the fabulous park garden at your leisure. We have our own private courtyards thereby allowing you as much privacy as possible. Sorry, but we are not in a position to permit children or pets and would request no smoking in the cottage.

Our French pick-me-up

This Gite is one of the nicest we have stayed in during 15 years of holidaying in France.

John and Frankie were excellent hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them, their extensive gardens and John's carefully maintained pool were superb, especially in the French summer sun.

There is plenty to do and see in the area. We found that this holiday could be either total relaxation as Le Vert was so quiet and rural, but it is only a short drive from such places of interest as the Romanesque Saintes, La Rochelle's beaches and harbours and Cognac with its vineyards and distilleries.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay at Le Vert and would certainly return in the future. We cannot reccommend this Gite too highly.

Thank you John and Frankie for a wonderful holiday.
Owner's Response: It was a pleasure having June and Dave staying with us, especially as they would cover the pool after use in the evening, saving us a task! Also the cottage was left both clean and tidy which was very much appreciated by us and showed respect for our property and village.

Wonderful Holiday

We had a wonderful holiday in Le Vert. The cottage, gardens and pool exceeded all our expectations and are a credit to John and Frankie. They were excellent hosts, readily available to help and advise. It was obvious that our comfort and enjoyment were their priority.
Le Vert is a lovely rural location yet it is within an hours comfortable drive of the lovely towns of Saintes, Cognac, Surgeres, and St Jean D'Angely. The beautiful port of La Rochelle and its nearby beaches are similarly close by.
There are a variety of restaurants, catering for all tastes, within easy reach (John and Frankie are more than happy to advise). The lovely peaceful gardens made eating "at home" a particularly pleasurable experience.
We would be delighted to return and will not hesitate to recommend John and Frankie's cottage to our family and friends.
Thank you John and Frankie for making our holiday so memorable.

Fantastic Holiday.

The description of this holiday cottage is absolutely spot on, in fact it is even better than we expected. The location and setting of the cottage is just idyllic with the park garden wandering down to the river. The property has everything you could possibly need and is spotlessly clean and well maintained. It is also so pretty with lots of fruit trees and flowers.

The owners John and Frankie are lovely people who made us feel so welcome and made our stay at the cottage an absolute pleasure. They are extremely helpful, accomodating and very friendly.

Without doubt we would like to return for another holiday and will not hesitate to recommend the cottage to family and friends.

If you are looking for a quiet rural retreat then this is the place for you! The location is a pretty, quiet village in stunning countryside. There is plenty to do in neighbouring villages and towns and large towns of Saintes, Niort, Surgeres and Cognac are all within an hour and a half in the car. La Rochelle and the islands just off the coast are a must to go and visit and are only a 45 minute car journey.

We stayed in the last week of July, it was very hot and sunny everyday and it was bliss having the pool to swim and cool down.

We would love to return for another holiday and thank you John and Frankie for a brilliant holiday.
