Lacking daylight and air

Very helpful and accommodating owner, professional pick-up service and friendly, personal welcoming at apartment. The facility was very clean, modern decorated with a superbly equipped kitchenette. However, there is no daylight in the apartment (sub-ground-floor) and hence no air circulation (ceiling fans help, but don't give fresh air). The little "terrace" goes to the backyard where there was quite a lot of noise from the neighbors. Especially the water/drain pipe which runs down the wall of the apartment gets very loud early in the morning. The sofa beds are not comfortable for adults (we needed three mattresses to make one comfortable sleeping area). Therefore, we would not recommend this apt. for more than 2 adults (or couple, plus 1 adult). Great shopping area with lots of restaurants, bars, etc. within steps from the apt. Other than that, nothing spectacular to be found in this area. The near-by seafront is not very attractive for sun bathing or swimming. However, the location is perfect for trips around the island (few steps from main bus terminal). We rode the bus to the few sandy beaches found on the island. If you're looking for peace and quiet, you'll be disappointed as the popular beaches are crowded and noisy (lots of teenage students in the afternoon). In conclusion, you should not plan on spending much time in the apt., but rather explore the island to make your stay enjoyable. The owner was more than helpful in many ways, but we couldn't spend more time in the apt than necessary without feeling suffocated. Oh, and the old, tiny TV needs to be replaced ;-) Thanks again for all your help, Chris!

Owner's Response: It is very true that it is in the ideal location and perfect for getting out and about, this is very important if you want to explore other parts of the island. This can easily be done from this location using the public bus service which is cheap and efficient.
It is also true that this apartment was not designed for spending lots of time in it, it is after all only 53sqm in size., Then again if you decide to stay in you can enjoy a range of DVD movies, over 35 cable TV channels and unlimited use of the internet, all available free of charge.
This apartment has a beautiful and comfortable double bedroom, exactly as it is displayed in the image on this web page. However, if your group size is 3 or more, normal sofa beds are provided... A sofa bed is not the same as a regular bed and it is highly recommended that you do not book this apartment if you must have a regular bed to sleep on. We suggest that you spend more money and book a larger apartment which provides regular beds for all guests, rather than sofa beds.
As this apartment is located in a very central area, the owners decided to create a longer corridor to provide more privacy and to act as a type of buffer from any possible traffic noise. This however meant that some natural daylight would be lost and therefore whilst gaining in one instance it has suffered slightly in another way. In saying that if you are out and about exploring during daylight hours, it really does not effect the real enjoyment of your stay.
I must admit, I had not noticed that we have noisy neighbours and this has never been brought to my attention by previous guests. It is possible that when sitting outside on the rear terrace/yard, noise is echoed around the large open courtyard, especially early in the morning when it is very very quiet.
And finally...I find it very hard to believe that the nearby seafront is not attractive for swimming and sunbathing! It is 3km long. The stretch of coast has many pretty bays and some considered as fabulous for snorkelling, in fact government are considering building an aquamuseum, which is a museum in the sea basically... It has a very small sandy beach, but swimming from the rocky coast is excellent and the sea is impeccably clean.
