All the Cornwall coastline is beautiful but St Ives is especially scenic. There is a reason why scores of artists used to flock here (and still do), and that is the wonderful light that comes from every direction off the sea - you'll notice this as soon as you wake up each morning. It is also renowned for its mild climate - it gets it's fair share of sun which you can tell by the palm trees.
Ocean Breezes was recently converted from a hotel to flats. It sits at the top of the hill, directly above Porthmeor beach and the Tate gallery one way (2 mins walk), and the other side of the hill is the town and picturesque harbour through cobbled streets and old fishing cottages (5 mins walk). Conviently the public car park is opposite (£35/wk).
There's plenty to do in St Ives itself: 3 great beaches, lovely restaurants and cafes, galleries, very good art classes at the painting school for a start. But don't miss Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Godrevy Lighthouse, Mousehole.
