The Area.:
This villa is ideally situated, just 3 minute stroll to the beach, all on flat ground, no hills to climb. The fact that the surrounding area is all on level ground, means there is no need to hire a car.
It is just 150 meters to the main road and as Kadikalesi is situated right in the middle between Turgutreis town centre and Gumusluk Fishing Village it will only take you a 10 min dolmus/ bus drive to get to either place.
Gumusluk is well worth a visit. There are a variety of restaurants and craft shops around this lovely harbour. On the left hand side of the harbour, at the very end towards the beach, you can wade out across the sea ( there is a causeway, so the water should only come up to your knees) to Rabbit Island, where almost tame rabbits run around. The locals feed them but if you think of it on the day, you could bring a little fruit with you.
The view from the top of the Island is well worth the trip. Sunken ruins are being excavated near the island at the moment.
Turgutreis.:
A new promenade is being built to join Turgutreis beach front right up to the beach at Kadikalesi. It should be completed by this summer. At the moment you have to cross about 150 meters of sand to get to where the promenade starts. It is a leisurely 25 minute stroll along the beach front, into Turgutreis town centre. Along the way you pass a variety of restaurants and bars belonging to hotels.
You will have reached the centre point when you come to the harbour, where all the boats are waiting for you to book your day trips. If you carry on past the harbour, still staying to the sea front you will come to the new marina. It hosts boutique shopping and banking. Further along into the marina you will find a leisure complex with an outdoor pool, tennis courts, health suites, bar, restaurant etc. It is open to the public. Migros is the main supermarket, it is right across the road from the mosque. Once you have found them you can find your way around all the side streets for shopping.
Further Information.:
Day trips to the historical site of Ephesus ,one of the greatest ruined cities in the western world and Pamukkale with it's hot springs, also known as (cotton castle) can be booked from a number of agents in the town.
From the marina you can take a ferry trip across to Kos Island, where there is duty free shopping.
If you are going into Bodrum one of the main features is St. Peters Castle, down by the harbour front.
