Fully equipped 180 sqm house restored in 2007, (3 bedrooms), dining room (TV, DVD), living room with fireplace, kitchen (fridge, oven, dishwasher), washing machine, covered and open terraces, 5 kms from all amenities (shops, restaurants, market, bank, post office, theatre, etc.), surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, delightful medieval hilltop villages, historic Fermo (Roman cisterns, summer antiques market, music recitals in the mini opera house/theatre) is 12 kms away and the beach at Porto San Giorgio (+ railway station) is 15 kms away. The nearest airport is Ancona (60 kms). The Sibillini mountain range and national park (ski-ing, trekking) is an hour's drive away. Between the house and Ascoli Piceno (one of the largest towns in the area) is the Piceno wine growing region. The university town of Mercerata boasts the second largest open air opera in Italy (season July/August). Local producers sell direct their wine, olive oil, honey, ham, cheese, etc.

Unspoiled countryside, rolling hills, farm land, vineyards, olive groves, the Marche is a relaxing and charming setting in which to get to know rural Italy. There are beautifully restored towns and villages to visit and many boast a lovely piazza and a theatre (or rather a mini opera house), others a castello. The Romans recruited their legions in the area and have left many remains such as the famous cisterns in Fermo (10 miles) which supplied water to the Roman fleet anchored on the coast. There are many beaches to visit along the Adriatic coastline, as well as the spectacular Conero cliffs at Ancona (40 miles). One of the nicest seaside resorts is Porto San Giorgio (12 miles from the house), a bustling little town, with palm tree lined streets and seafood restaurants and perhaps the best gelateria in Italy! The small town of Petritoli (3 miles from the house) has good shops and restaurants, a tourist office and local festivities throughout the year.

Villa in the Le Marche

We stayed at the villa for one week during August. The house is well equipped and the owner was very attentive. There are some fantastic views. There is a lot to see in the surrounding areas . We spent a lot of time at the beach at Porto San Giorgio where you can either people watch or just lounge on the beach all day. There are some good local restaurants and people are very friendly. We would love to go back next year.

We had a wonderful holiday in this property. The house is immaculately presented, the bathrooms luxurious and it is incredilbly well supplied. The 360' view is stunning and the house is only 20 minutes by car, from the sea. There is a lovely terrace to eat out and another for sunbathing - very tranquil and idyllic setting. Lovely region - lots to explore - we have to come again soon.
