Summer Activities:
La Clusaz is a haven for those seeking an active summer holiday in the mountains or the chance to relax amongst stunning alpine scenery. The surrounding area offers miles of marked footpaths and mountain biking trails. Various cable cars are open and provide the opportunity for leisurely walks down wooded trails to the village. For the more adventurous, Via Ferrata, canyoning, white water rafting and paragliding can all be organised in the village and to cool off, there is a superb swimming pool with breathtaking views of the Aravis peaks. The summer luge provides an exhilarating means of racing down the mountainside and the ice rink offers a taste of winter. Numerous other activities ranging from archery to tennis exist, whilst local restaurants and bars offer the means to relax after the day's delights. In June, July and August, there is often entertainment in the village square.
Skiing and Winter Activities:
132k of alpine skiing over 5 massifs and an extensive snow park enable the resort to cater for all levels of skiers and boarders. There is a total of 85 runs - 7 black, 26 red, 27 blue and 35 green and extensive off piste skiing. Cable car links enable the whole area to be covered in one day. The highest point, La Balme at 2616m offers spectacular views of Mont Blanc. Night and full moon skiing occur regularly. There are excellent high altitude restaurants, most of which are accessible to non-skiers. The area is well served by snow cannons. Cross country skiing is also excellent, with 86k of tracks. La Clusaz frequently stages a round of the Cross Country World Cup. There are miles of marked snow paths and raquette trails and the ice rink and swimming pool remain open throughout the season, even in sub-zero temperatures! English speaking tuition and ski equipment hire are widely available. There is an extensive ski bus network linking all major sites and activities
In the Area:
La Clusaz promotes its links with and proximity to Lake Annecy which is considered to be one of the most beautiful areas of France. Charming lakeside villages such as Talloires and Menton, only 30m drive away, offer the prospect of sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, water skiing, or simply swimming and relaxing by the lake shore. Annecy itself is an ancient town with a maze of winding passages and waterways, sophisticated shops and commands stunning views and is often referred to as the 'Venice of the Alps'. The area is well served by high quality golf courses. Throughout the summer, there are special events around the Lake, including spectacular firework displays in July and August. Further afield, Chamonix is the centre for the Mont Blanc area (including the world's highest cable car ride to the Aiguille du Midi or the train ride to the Mer de Glace), whilst Geneva, Megeve, Yvoire and Evian are all worth visiting.
