Peycibeau is a magnificent manor house, surrounded by 42 acres of private parkland & woodland, ensuring a holiday in perfect peace and tranquility - its setting is truly breath-taking! Situated on the estate within a wing on the ground floor of the manor house is the traditional, stone-built cottage. The accommodation is completely self-contained and has been recently refurbished and decorated, making it a real home from home environment. With panoramic views over the landscape, next to the heated pool, is the fabulous summer-house, the use of which is included within the rental of the cottage. The summer house has an additional bathroom with a steam-shower, a relaxing bar and lounge area, a bread-oven and a stone BBQ, and of course a fully equipped dining area for true French alfresco living! The village (2km) has everything you need - a Boulangerie, butcher, general food & wine store, post office, cash-point, chemist & doctor's surgery, a bar & a couple of restaurants.

Nestled between the Dordogne and the Vézere rivers, in the heart of the Perigord Noir, the area around Sarlat is studded with medieval villages, châteaux, prehistoric caves and many other places of interest to discover and explore. Sarlat, the capital of this region, is a stunningly beautiful medieval town, and the twice-weekly market held here is renowned as one of the very best in France. The river Dordogne is a 2km walk from our property, shallow waters offering the perfect place to bathe, swim and canoe. Not too far away are the elegant cities of Perigeaux, Bergerac, Cahors and Brive, and the wine-growing regions to the south and the west are havens to explore the local wine chateaux, estates and vineyards. The gastronomic delights of the region will also tempt you!

  • A deposit of 50% of the total rental cost will be payable initially to confirm the booking, with the balance payable two months prior to arrival date.
    Deposits and Payments can be made in Pounds Sterling or Euros.
    A security deposit, for any damage or breakages, of 10% of the rental cost (or 150€ whichever is the greater) will be required, in the form of cash, on arrival.
  • The rental cost includes all electricity, bedding and towels (except for swimming pool use)
    The property will be available to you from 15.00hr on the day of arrival.
    The property must be vacated by 10:00am on the day of departure.

  • The Bathroom in the cottage is light and spacious, with a bath (often useful for small children) and a separate shower enclosure, which has recently been installed. The bathroom in the Summer House is very handy for the swimming pool and also has the luxury of a steam-shower, which can be very relaxing before or after a good swim in the pool. Towels are provided and if staying for more than one week these are changed after each week. Guests are requested to bring their own towels for swimming pool use.

  • All the beds are good quality and very comfortable. The rooms are light and airy and all have shutters, as well as curtains, to keep them cool during the heat of the summer days. The sofa-bed in the sitting room is particularly large and very comfortable. The full size cot may be placed in either bedroom. If staying for longer than one week, all the bedding is changed after each week. There is plenty of storage space in each bedroom, with additional hanging space in a wardrobe/cupboard in the hall.

Notes: The owners of the estate are English and live in the manor house most of the year, except during the months of July and August, when the manor house is also rented to holiday guests. If there is a problems with any of the facilities, these are dealt with immediately either by the owners, or their property managers. Being on the ground floor, the cottage is suitable for elderly or infirm guests. Being all on the same level, wheelchair access is possible both inside the property and also from the property to the swimming pool area. Purpose-made ramps may be put in position so that wheelchair access is also possible to the Summer House. For small children, in the garden there is a swing, a see-saw swing and a slide, and for the older children a large trampoline and a wonderful tree-house in our largest Oak, not to mention the acres of garden and woodland to play in! We're very 'green' here - with solar-heated hot water and swimming pool; we make our own bio-fuel, and recycle all rubb

During the months of July and August only the whole house - the Grande-maison together with the Cottage - sleeping 14-20 persons - may be rented exclusively as one, for a complete price of 6,000Euros. Alternatively each part may be rented separately - the heated swimming pool and the fabulous pool house being shared with the other guests.

Canoeing on the Dordogne River: A fun, if tiring day can be spent canoeing down the river. Stop off along the way to picnic, swim or to admire the many riverside châteaux. Châteaux Galore!: There are numerous local châteaux to visit - Castelnaud, Beynac, Montfort, Fenelon, Hautefort, Commarque, Puymartin, Milandes - most within half an hours drive away. Gouffre de Padirac: An underground adventure! Wonderful caves to explore, including a boat trip on a subterranean river 103 metres below ground. Lascaux II: Exact replica of the original Lascaux caves featuring some of the first known cave paintings by man - truly awe-inspiring!

Sarlat Market: One of the best markets in the whole of France! Every Saturday and Wednesday mornings. Wonderful local produce, including foie gras, truffles, cepes, canard, fruit & veg, walnuts, cheese, wines - and much more! Dining in Sarlat on a Summer's Evening: There are many restaurants to enjoy in Sarlat (we can recommend specific ones when you get here). The town is lit up so beautifully at night that an after-dinner stroll is a must to soak up the truly medieval atmosphere. Local Wine-Growing Regions: Including Bergerac, Perchement, St Emilion and Cahors.
