THE SKIING - VAUJANY / ALPE D'HUEZ:
The 160 person Cable Car system takes you from the village at 3,812 feet to 8,540 feet in minutes…The next stop up is 10,156 feet at the Pic Blanc looking out on to the Mont Blanc, the Grand Paradis, the Meije and the Ecrin National Park.
Skiing down offers a choice from 220 km of managed slopes of all skill levels . The slopes , or pistes in french, cover 6,801 feet of altitude variant cutting through gulleys and forests, to a multitude of lift and cable car options, - .frankly it's hardly possible to familiarise oneself with the whole ski domain, it being that vast…
Vaujany offers over 7,410 Acres of mountainous snow playground in an attempt to satisfy the desires and ambitions of all kinds of skiers, piste and off-piste, cross-country, competitions, snowboard, ... everybody!
The Vaujany Ski Domain is an integral part of an enormous domain covering 8 village communal territories : Alpe d'Huez , Auris, Clavans, Le Freney d'Oisans, La Garde, Oz en Oisans, Villard Reculas and Vaujany.

A typical day!
Up at 7.30am. A fresh breakfast of hot coffee and tea with crisp croissants and pain au chocolat or perhaps pain aur raisains (my favourite!)
Zip up to the beautiful village of Vaujany and park free either under cover or outside - both right next to the ski lifts and the ski rental. Collect your gear from your heated locker. No queues - straight into the huge 160-person gondola and you're whisked up to the first stop at 2,000m - Monfrais. A little gentle blue and green slope skiing here or perrhaps a lesson or two? Next challenge? OK zip on the gondola up to 2,800m and the Alpe D'Huez area. Splendid wide red runs and the chance to ski back to Vaujany or down to Alpe d,Huez. Best lunch at Lac Besson - not to be missed! Super adventurous? Right - zip up to 3,300m and you're at Pic Blanc - now you're in glacier territory where you can push yourself as far as you want.
Back to Chalet Oz - hot bath light the wood stove, sip the mulled wine - time for a well earned dinner
