Situated in one of the 'Most Beautiful Villages in France', Lourmarin is ideally placed in the Luberon National Park in the heart of Provence, 30 mins from Avignon, Aix and Arles. A fully furnished studio apartment with large bedroom (double bed, 1.60m), small well-equipped kitchen, large bathroom with separate shower and bath, private shaded courtyard area with chairs, table, barbecue etc. A newly converted apartment 50m2 (2 rooms); large salon with a sofa bed (160cm) and fully equipped corner kitchen. 3 French doors open onto a south facing, sunlit courtyard garden. The large vaulted bedroom (140cm bed) with en-suite shower room is down a few steps from the salon and remains cool in summer. Linen included. Lourmarin is designated as one of the most beautiful villages in France. The village centre hosts many excellent restaurants. Cafes spill out onto the pavements and there are many galleries, designer boutiques, antique and gift shops. There is an excellent Friday morning market of local produce and artisan wares. There is always a lively programme of events, including antique, book, truffle and other fairs, free music concerts, film evenings, etc. During the summer, the Protestant Temple is used as one of the venues for the Roque d'Antheron international piano festival. The Chateau sponsors a musical programme, as well. Other activities catered for include: cookery courses, private French lessons, tennis, swimming, biking, etc. The village is situated in unspoilt Provence, on the south side of the Luberon Mountains. The beautiful countryside surrounding the village includes fields of cherry trees, grape vines and olive orchards.

A Lovely Week in Lourmarin

The week my daughter and I spent with Rose and Robin at the Ancienne Maison was the best week of the month we spent traveling in Europe this Spring (and it was an excellent month). We stayed in the newest of their three suites, and it was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The suite had a full kitchen and living area on the entry level off of the courtyard, and a bedroom, sitting area and bathroom downstairs. The level of service was exactly what we wanted, when we wanted it. Rose and Robin struck the perfect balance between respecting our privacy, and being available for any assistance we required. I celebrated an important birthday while we were there, and they made us feel like family. The location in Lourmarin was also perfect. The rest of our trip was spent in cities, and Lourmarin was the classic French village ... with better food and shopping than you might expect to find. The Chateau also distinguishes Lourmarin from other French villages. We were there before the height of the season, and so did not experience the live music presented there. However, having toured the Chateau, I know it would be a wonderful venue. The market on Friday was also extraordinary. I hope to return to Lourmarin, and the Ancienne Maison, soon ... and often.

A great weekend

My wife and I just returned from a lovely weekend at Rose and Robin's place in Lourmarin. The guesthouse was exactly as described, and clean, comfortable and very Provencal. It is located right in the middle of the old part of Lourmarin, and the village itself is quite a gem, with lots of history and color, but not overwhelmed by busloads of tourists. I would recommend anyone to stay here.
