Lepic Retreat - Paris Apartment

My 2 daughters and I stayed in this apartment over the Easter weekend. I'll admit that I was originally nervous about staying in Montmartre, given some of the rather sketchy comments about the neighbourhood in various books and websites. Forget them! The street, right up the road from the Moulin Rouge, as well as Amelie's restaurant, has lots of lovely food stores and little shops. We had the best bread ever from just down the street. It is round the corner from Rue Abbesses, with lots of restaurants and more little food shops, including several ethnic speciality shops. It is an easy walk to meander up to Sacre Couer, and Place Tertre, which is touristy, but fun. Find time to just walk through the streets south of the church and go have a look at the winery - the only one in Paris. Tons of restaurants - most little and unpretentious. However, lots of moules, frites and crepes - all delicious. Also, take the bus to get around - it is easier and faster than the metro, plus you get to tour Paris at the same time.
The apartment was fantastic. It is on the second floor, with no downstairs neighbours, looks over the street that is active in the day, but not noisy, and quiet at night (honestly, there was a fellow playing typically Parisien accordian music one day - one of those little memories you won't forget), and is pristine. The pictures are accurate - it is gleaming. It's quite new, and very clean. There is a very comfortable living room, with a huge TV (every imaginable foreign language station), a phone and computer (that was a surprise!), and a nifty cocktail table that doubles as a dining table. We ate buttery croissants there every day. The 2 bedrooms are comfortable and roomy, with good windows, and comfortable mattresses. The kitchen is tiny, but has everything you would need - it probably has better knives than I have in my own home. The bathroom is actually split in 2 - a WC in one room, and sink and very good size shower in the other. While we thought it was odd to start with, it actually worked really well for a group.
The management is great. Yetunde is very prompt with email correspondence, and patient with my unnecessary concerns about the neighbourhood and safety. We were met precisely on time at the apartment, early in the morning, which is a plus, and not something hotels can normally accommodate. The payment was easy, and I had my security deposit back within 2 weeks.
All in all, we loved the apartment.
Owner's Response: We were very happy to hear that after actually experiencing Montmartre and the apartment, our guests were as enchanting as we are time and again by this area.
Reviews are always great and many websites exist where we have "experts" on Paris telling you which neighborhoods to stay in and which to avoid but the bottom line is that each person has their own personal experience and it is good to know that here, this guest did not feel that we steered her wrong.
We hope to welcome you as well.
