This beautiful 2 person rural gite is adjacent to the owners home and is set in a large tranquil garden, amongst vineyards, with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. The 10m x 5m pool with its own large covered terrace is the perfect place to relax. This newly renovated Charent Maritime gite is situated within easy reach of Bordeaux, Cognac & St Emilion. The accommodation comprises of a spacious open plan living area with beautiful old exposed beams. It is divided into two distinctive areas; the lounge area with its luxury furnishings and the bedroom area which is also excellently furnished and divided from the living area with wrought iron screens to give complete privacy. The separate dining kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob microwave and fridge/freezer. Outside the large terrace is perfect for those romantic evenings.

This Charente Maritime gite is situated just 10 minutes from Montguyon with it's lively summer festivals; it has shops, bars and a weekly market. Just 15 minutes away is the local market town of Chalais with it's colourful monday market. Outdoor life offers a choice of bathing lakes; 'Beauvallon' aqua-lagoon with its man-made beach where you can hire pedaloes; Etang Vallier at nearby Brossac with it's crazy golf or for something a little livelier why not try quad-biking or jet-biking at the Lac de la Sensation Frisson. Nearby you can try horse-riding or why not canoe leisurely along the nearby waterways. St Emilion, a wine lovers paradise and town of Unesco world heritage is a lovely place to visit. Bordeaux is a cosmopolitan city with shops, museums and great architecture. Cognac with it's quaint old streets offers a choice of distilleries to visit including Hennessey & Martell. There are many local restaurants and the owners are happy to recommend their favourites.

We stayed here for one week (23rd -30th August 2009) and had a wonderful holiday. We can only endorse what others have said and more!!

Ray and Helen are excellent hosts and have done everything to ensure guests relax and enjoy the gite. Their local knowledge allows you to discover this beautiful part of rural France.

The nearby towns of Chalais, Aubeterre and Riberac are worth visiting.

However, like others, we loved returning to 'Paradis' and feasting on local market produce.

There are interesting walks around the property and, if feeling energetic, there are plenty of cycling tracks to make use of the bicycles provided.

We hope to return.

We stayed for 2 weeks in this beautiful apartment, in june 2009. It's brand new and we were the first visitors. Every thing you need is in the gite and it is very nicely decorated. The owners are very friendly and gave us a lot of information about this beautiful part of the charente-maritime. Around the pool you have a great views of the landscape. We visited Cognac,with it's two museums, did a boat trip over the Charente and also the memorial's
of Mitterand (former president). There is a nice
restaurant nearby with a beautiful view on the lake. We also visited St.Emilion which you must see.
And after a heavy day it was good to come back and relax
in the gite.

Beautiful gite in wonderful surroundings.

We stayed in this gite last week (August 2009) and had a wonderful week's holiday.

The gite is finished to a high standard (excellent kitchen, bathroom etc) and is very spacious and comfortable... really the photos do not do it justice. Air conditioning is also great for when it is hot and humid outside. Sky TV, DVD player etc. - everything you'll need!

The owners are lovely people and make you very welcome, they even provide a few provisions in the fridge on arrival which we have never experienced anywhere else.

The gite has a private patio overlooking a gorgeous view down to fields and woodlands.

Just a few steps away in the garden is a stunning swimming pool, it is shared with the owners and the other gite on the property, but this is no problem - plenty of space for everyone! There are sun loungers etc.

There are local restaurants which the owners recommend (5-10km away) but we enjoyed our surroundings so much we were happy to stay in the sun by the pool and look after ourselves!

The owners can also help arrange other activities (wine tasting etc).

If you are looking for a truly rural retreat in this lovely area of France, this is ideal for you. It is ideal for a couple looking to escape the crowds and grab some valuable peace and quiet!

We are already arranging our return next summer.
