Chernomorets is a quiet village situated on the southern portion of Bulgaria's Black Sea Coast, on a peninsula in the bay of Burgas between the Akra and Talasakra capes. The village is located just 25 km south of Bourgas, and 8 km away from the quaint historic town of Sozopol. A pedestrianised street in Chernomorets' town centre offers a small selection of tourist shops, cafes and restaurants. A broader selection can be found in the old town of nearby Sozopol, which boasts art galleries, preserved wooden houses, cobbled streets, ancient ruins, a fortress and museums. At the beginning of September each year, Sozopol hosts the Apolonia International Art Festival, which attracts artists the world over.
Approximately 25km to the south is the Ropotamo River, which was declared a natural reserve in 1940 and is a protected area. The river is home to an abundance of birds and flora species, more than 100 of which are endangered in the country. Boat tours run daily.
