Battle is of course famous for being the site of the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Battle is a small picturesque town with fabulous pubs and restaurants. There are beautiful walks to take in the surrounding countryside. Hastings has the nearest beach, within 5 miles of the cottage. Brighton and Lewes are under an hour's drive away. Rye is a 40 minute drive as is Tunbridge Wells, home of The Pantiles. London is 70 miles away and Battle has a very good train link to Charing Cross, London, the journey taking approximately 80 minutes. Battle Abbey is metres away from the cottage - both bedrooms overlook the Abbey and many events take place both in the Abbey and on the famous battleground all through the year.
