Nailsworth is a thriving small town in the south Cotswolds located 4 miles south of Stroud in one of its five valleys (Laurie Lee country). Before the Industrial Revolution it was an important wool manufacturing area and there are numerous old water-powered mills along the valleys. The area offers stunning scenery and wonderful walks.
Nailsworth has a wide variety of individual shops, galleries, regular farmers’ and craft markets. Just off the A46 which gives easy access to the Regency towns of Bath to the south, Cheltenham to the north, it is an ideal base from which to explore the delightful countryside. Roman Cirencester is 9 miles away.
The world-famous Westonbirt Arboretum is a few miles drive away with marvellous scenery and open-air concerts in Summer. Three polo grounds are within 10 miles, including Cirencester Park which hosts top rate matches. Gatcombe Park and Badminton Horse Trials are held locally. Prince Charles' Highgrove shop is always worth a visit.
